Manfrotto leveling base 338

Hello everybody, I am new here but have been "lurking" for a while. I use a Manfrotto 303sph head on a 338 leveling base to shoot panoramas.
I had problems with the alignment and found the "bullseye" level on the 338 being out a fair bit. If you have one, just double check...

Hi Birddog,
I use a "torpedo" style spirit level and it's OK. I will try and get it replaced after the holidays. I think the Manfrotto head and base are well suited for panoramas eventhough the quality is disappointing. I could not see anything similar at Gitzo.

I moved up to the Gitzo since then:
Gitzo 1227G + Markin 20 Ballhead
Gitzo 1325 + RRS BH55Pro
Gitzo 1025 + RRS BH25
GitZo 1588 Monopod + Acratech Ultimate Ballhead
and number of L brackets for D70/D100/D2h + lens foots(Plates) + RRS-337 Bubble leveling and flash brackets.
Am not looking back to the Manfrotto atm.

Do you have any experience in this field?

Sorry, I'm not very well with Manfrotto stuff, just clarify:
- You got the leveling base and use it for QTVR and now want to integrate with the D70? I'm lost!

I do not know where to start... I use the Manfrotto 055Pro, levelling base 338 and the 303SPH head. I use a Sigma 12-24 set at 12. It took me quite some time to get the nodal point set correctly!
I have been reading a fair bit about these 360. I first used PTGui and find it hard to use. I now use a demo version of Realviz Stitcher which is far easier to use but also very expensive. For more info:http://www.realviz.com/photo_stitching_software.htm
I do not have anything worth showing yet as I have been concentrating more on the technical side of things. It works really well (the software), but I still have some issues with white balance.

Suveyors transits used high quality leveling bases and very accurate bubbles both of which were on every transit. With lazer transits now that are self leveling, I wonder if these bases can be picked up cheap, new or used, and will they fit on our legs. Maybe can be modified to do so. Just a thought.
When I get my D70 I am going to do some of what you are doing. Question, do you leave the camera on auto, or do you set it manually and take all segments at the same setting? Geo.

Manual all the way. Even white balance has to be uniform. Don't leave WB on A or shoot in NEF.
