Hi Dee,

also do a search o those lenses that Birddog mentions, plenty of comments in the forum about those. I have the Tokina 12-24 and really love it.

cheers,

André

I first bagged out the Nikon 12-24DX because i got too used to the sharpness of my 50mm f1.4 at f8

but after photographing in a studio environment with excellent light and a bit more tech know how i managed to get a shrap result from the 12-24
the example is a very tight crop of a much larger image, you can see hairs and texture on the face
shot at 24mm f5

i would get the nikon it costs more, the internal focusing is good less dust gets inside the lens

Here is an example of the Tokina 12-24 used as a landscape lens, which I assume you want to use a WA lens for, rather than portraits.

At the last minimeet, I was lucky enough to try out both the Tokina and Nikkor 12-24 lenses. Both feel and work great. The Nikkor perhaps a little better, but the Tokina is the winner at half the price! :)

So good, I ordered one today ;)

I find the Sigma 12-24 the best all-around of this group, especially for its lack of CA and rectilinearity. I'd buy it again, even with the 10-20, Tamron 11-18, and new Tokina 12-24 out.

Happy with my Tokina 12-24.... Give it a look...

Can't believe that you're deviating from your devastating kit lens though Dee...
