Pitty for all the bidders on both auctions.

Hmmm... described as D2X, illustrated as D70s, item in China, listed in AU$, listed as ships to worldwide but described as "won't sell to international bidders: won't ship outside U.S.A."

and on the last picture of the D70s on it it shows what seems to be a cable release socket on the shutter release is this a clone between a d100 and a d70s picture?

Indeed.

And I don't think the "S" is real on that one either.

I just sent a warning to the current high bidder and realised I'm probably only contacting the fraud who put it up in the first place!

It's obviously a z grade scam. He's lifted the text en masse from a US ebay auction, hence the conflicting sale and delivery instructions. This guys command of english is as limited as his scamming skills. Then he's inserted the wrong photos... and for the finale... stuffed up the payment instructions. COD?? How can you scam someone if they don't have to pay up front?

Grade Z scam by a Grade A idiot.

But what will the buyer get? A D2x or a D70?

It's a shame there is only 20 minutes left, otherwise I'd set up a new ebay account and a hotmail address and bid. Then when he wanted his money I could point to the COD instructions

An email demanding payment even though the instructions are COD.. And if the buyer is stupid enough to send the money the will receive SFA...

I think it's extraordinarily sad that the "winner" will think he's got a D2X for under a thousand dollars. I know a sucker is born every minute but still....

I sent the winner a message. Although he/she has been on ebay a while they have made < 30 transactions. I really don't want to see anyone scammed for $1000.

So I've stuck my nose in...not my job...etc..etc...Worse that could happen is that my ebay account gets cancelled (I think)

Winner emailed me back. The "seller" has already emailed him twice wanting Western Union wire transfer. He is smart enough not to kiss his money goodbye and has asked ebay to investigate FWIW.

I doubt it. There's always another victim around the corner. At work we get fake invoices, enticing FAX back offers where the fax back cost is $5/min for a 15 min fax (all in small print), unknown "charities", wanting us to place ads in their low/no circulation magazines (we get a "complimentary" copy), and numerous business directories wanting to confirm our business details to enable our business to be listed in some "nationally available" business directory for anything between $50 - $250 a pop. OK I'll end the rant now..

the ebay seller is also no longer a "registered user" when you click on his profile..so ebay must of kicked him off..no doubt he'll come back sometime under another guise
