Thin black border action wanted please!

Postby Marvin on Mon Mar 13, 2006 10:27 am

Hi all,
I am after an action which gives a thin black ragged looking border with some plain white outside it. My friend had it on some professionally printed pictures and I thought it looked really good and would like to try it. I have no idea how I could do it in photoshop. I won't scan the pics for an example as they were professionally taken.
Any help or pointing in the right direction much appreciated.
Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee, it's really not that hard to make in Photoshop. I can write out the steps for you to make up an action to apply to the image if you like. Can you scan say a portion of the photo with the frame? Perhap a corner to get an idea? Cheers, Jase.

Hi Jase,
I would really appreciate that. I will grab one of the pics off of my friend and scan a corner. It's straight on the outside edge and kind of like paint strokes on the inside edge with a wider white border on the outside. I wouldn't even know where to start! Thanks, Jase!

Hi Lee,

is it similar to this border used by embi in his Challenge 5 entry?

Hi Lee,

Try this link:

You might have to search a bit for what you like, but lots of borders here.

Nosh.

Try Harry's Edges... One of them might do what you want...

Hi Guys!
Thanks for the links. Radar, no it's not like the one embi used - the one I'm after is more of a thin, solid black line with the inside kind of a painted look and the outside straight.
Will let you know if I find it!
Cheers,
Lee

Here is a very dodgy scan of the border I am after. I guess it just looks like a texta line around the picture with a white border outside. Anybody know how to make one??
Thanks,
Lee

Apparently the outside is "painted" look and the inside is straight!
