Might get that Varta 15min battery charger from DSE. Be good to get a 5th battery as you can charge individual cells.

Those powerbase ones look interesting too.

Kipper, it is a good deal I think. I bought the charger and another 8 batteries, two sets for the SB 800 abd a coupol,e for something else.

The beauty of the 15 minute charge - even though others seem to have overlooked it - :? - is that getting 5 batteries charged in 30 mins is a lot better than 90 mins or more.

Highly recommended.

Hmmm. I'm really considering the Varta charger, just wonder if the extra pack is worth getting. What I was thinking about doing is just using a non-rechargable for the 5th cell, which at the moment I'd say would be a rare occurence.

Hmm interesting read. I have a 8 way charger here, can do 8 AAA to D cell batteries. Perfect.

Now all i need is 5 more rechargeables, a D70 and a SB 800

kipper, just noticed your post. The 5th battery is great for rapid recycle, I leave it on all the time. The book counsels against any mixing of batteries. I doubt whether a non-rechargeable would have the same oomph as the chargeables (the vartas are 2000 mAh). I reckon you would be better off getting the extra varta and have them all the same.

For those looking at the Varta charger and batteries, here is a quick review of it (under the Rayovac brand name):

Greg,

Same product, probably from the same manufacturer in China, so did 'Varta' copy 'Rayovac' or vice versa. Patent laws don't exist anymore :?:

As you know I have the 'Varta' product and it works extremely well. Full set of additional batteries a must. :D

Cheers,
fozzie

I reckon it is just a rebadging fozzie.

Yes, I am very happy with mine too, still haven't run down the first charge yet!
