Nikon VR ownersVR questions:
Who owns Nikon VR lenses ? What kind of VR lens do you own ? What do you like about the VR lens(es) ? What has that done to your photography ? What can you do with them that you couldn't do before ? Do you have more keepers ? Did you grow more muscles ? Did you have to get a new camera bag or backpack ? Did your marriage suffer ? Are your mates and spouse thinking you went nuts ? How do you feel about poking around a big gun in public ? What are you thoughts about Nikon VR ? Cheers CD
Christiand, only had a 70-200 VR since Christmas but can help on a few points. The Vr is great, really works. Also the AFS is lightning quick compared to my af lenses. Both of thos factors have allowed me to capture shots I wouldn't otherwise (not that many yet).
It is a little heavy with the lens on but not too bad. Yes I need a new bag. Yes people do think it is a lot for camera "stuff". I got my wife to buy me the lens. Have you seen Birddy's 200-400 VR? The 70-200 looks like the kit lens beside that! VR is worth having as a feature, if the price seems reasonable to you. It is not a necessity, but if buying a new lens, why not?

Ok, 70-200 VR. Have had it for 4 months. It allows me to hand hold when I used to rely on a tripod/monopod. I'm single so I decide what toys I'm allowed to have . My friends are quite impressed with it, esp when comparing it to their P&S.
Overall I love this lens and I bet all its owners feel the same. It has produced some good shots but no lens will ever make you a great photographer, but thats something I find hard to remember when checking out all the pretty lenses..
Not to steal from RobW but:

Christiand,
Resistance is illogical. g.
Gary Stark Nikon, Canon, Bronica .... stuff The people who want English to be the official language of the United States are uncomfortable with their leaders being fluent in it - US Pres. Bartlet
I agree with Gary. To buy mine off me second hand would cost you the same or more than the price of a new one.
I have the 70-200vr The fact that it has the advantages of vr on top of being a 2.8 lens, and the sharpness and boke produced when wide open are some of the little extras about this lens that I love. The rest has been said above - a definite buy as soon as possible. While the lens will never make the photographer .... a good one will help express their strenghts. buy now buy now hehehe Craig
