A Bargain for me

Postby mrbillf on Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:29 am

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to purchase the all great Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR lens. However, like everything that is second hand you never know the history of the item, with this in mind, the price is very attractive though. ($2000)What I want to know and being new to this lens, is what to look for in regards to possible faults, serial numbers to look out before I make the decision to buy it. I had a look at it and a play with it on his D70 and all seems fine. There isn't a mark on the glass or any exteral damage or abuse. It comes with lens hood, tripod collar, carry case, front/back caps. The good thing is the retailer is going to give me 1 year written warranty.

I'm going to take my camera in an have a play with it to the best of my knowledge. So what are your thoughts.

Regards,
Bill

Bill,
Good bargain hunting!
I don't see anything wrong with 12 months warranty comes with it.

Having a play on your body, plus a 12 month written guarantee, sounds like it's all good.

Bill,

I recently bought this lens from a fellow forum member, same deal as you.
(no warranty)
Though I had pics, had to trust, and it arrived as stated. Could not tell the difference between a brand new one! Complete with gold box!

As stated, try it on your camera and don't be alarmed if you hear noises, its the VR working. Good Luck! and welcome to the VR Club  8)
