Sunny ole englandWell I've been in England for a week now. Weather has been quite kind except for the day that I arrived where it was rainy and windy. However since then it's been lovely sunny spring days but only 10degC
Been out for a few walks and the location that I'm in seems quite fantastic for birding. Just outside my window I can see plenty of Blue-tits, Robins, Greenfinches, Goldfinches, a Kestrel and about eight Curlews. Apparently during autumn/winter when birds migrate there are plenty of waders that feed off the mudflats that are about 100m from the house that I'm staying at. So I can't wait for that Anyway apart from that everything that I took over arrived safely and not broken. Trying to look for making a cheap PC with the parts that I brought over (video card, memory and two hard drives) however I feel that I'll be still spending around 500gbp to 700gbp (roughly $1250-1800AUD). I'd like to get the Dell Ultrasharp 20" but that is about 404gbp ($1000AUD) so I might have to settle for a 19" monitor for the time being while I'm without work. Can anybody tell me of a decent 19" for around $500-600AUD. Cheers, talk to you all soon. Darryl (aka Kipper)

Good to hear you had a safe trip Kipper.
You're certainly not missing anything with the Melbourne weather. 18 degrees, wet and blowing a gale. Mmm fun!! Can't wait to see some of the British birds. Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com
Living in poverty due to my addiction to NIKON... Is there a clinic that can help me?

Sounds like you are in British Bird Heaven, nice work landing the prime birding location. Also good luck building your new PC, it's a shame parts are so damn expensive over there.
kipper/Darryl - good to hear from you and that you and your equipment arrived safe and sound. I suppose you are about to make the journey across the Channel into France to see your sister

Mid August in the UK isn't summer either. Summer is actually on the weekend of the 22nd of July this year in the UK. Matt
Welcome back Kipper...well online anyway Great to hear you arrived safe and sound with all gear intact.
How did I know that within the first three posts, there would be a reference to tits
Well at least they're patriotic Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone

Hampshire? Doesn't Warnie live there now? Warnie does a bit of birdding in his free time so you might catch up with him. (No tit jokes from me)
A reference to Warnie but not a tit joke? *pun intended with tongue firmly planted in cheek*

Kipper,
Glad to hear you arrived safely. I was in Thredbo last weekend. Was 6 deg in the village, -20 to -40 up the top of the chairlift with snow ( first snow of the year ). Unfortunatly no blue tit's there, only crows. Cheers Warwick

You know how you can tell if it's summer in the UK?... ... You stick your hand outside the umbrella and if the water is warm, it's summer. __________

I know that we (as Aussies) like to knock the British summer but when I was a POM I remember many, many beautiful summer evenings. Sipping an ale at the riverside pub, as night set in at closing time - beautiful

Only memory I have of the UK summer while I was in London a few years ago on a holiday was the sun setting at 10pm....

www.colberne.com.au I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
Yes it's not summer yet but spring, and the season is a bit late. West Sussex had snow this week
Is that when summer starts? I'm currently in france now, we had 17degC yesterday.....woot PC prices here are on par with oz, not more expensive. It's costing so much because I have no monitor, motherboard, cpu, case, dvdrw, keyboard, mouse and adsl wireless modem. The lcd that I want is 1000aud and I priced them in oz before I left so I know they cost the same there. Btw, Newcastle might of been 30degC but Melbourne certainly wouldn't of! ...............kipper goes off cursing this stupid french keyboard Darryl (aka Kipper)

Yep, nice 30C here in Newcastle, meant to be 27C today , love this time of year.
