From the Energex Website

energy for living

Attention all budding photographers

ENERGEX would like to celebrate the families that make up our community by running a photography competition that showcases these families. The theme is ‘Families at Play’, and by entering you have the chance to win some great prizes.
It’s easy to enter
Simply choose a photo you’ve taken that you think best represents Families at Play, and send it in on A4 sized photographic paper. Photos need to be in portrait style only and if you’re taking the shot with a digital camera don’t forget to set it to at least 4 megapixels.

Win one of three great prizes
You could win some great prizes and exposure for your photographic skills. The winner will receive a Kodak P850 Easyshare Digital camera valued at $799.95 (RRP), as well as having their winning photographic image featured on the cover of the Spring 2006 edition of energy for living to be seen by more than one million people. Two semi-finalists will each win a Kodak V530 Easyshare Digital camera valued at $447.95 (RRP).

Get snapping!
Entries must be received by close of business 30 May 2006, so start shooting now. For more information on this competition and to download your entry form see the link below or call 13 12 53, 8:00am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday and we’ll send one to you.

One thing i will never understand with comps like this one is why the prize is a digital camera. (Esp a Kodak dig camera)

if you’re taking the shot with a digital camera don’t forget to set it to at least 4 megapixels.
if you have one of these then don't you already have a newish digital camera anyway?

My idea for a prize from ENERGEX would be six months FREE electricity :)

Just my ramblings.
Steve.

Most of us presumably have friends or relatives who we'd like to infect, I mean, encourage to get interested in photography more. On the other hand, winning a shiny new SLR would make me pretty happy.

You can also pick the contests for the prizes. Can be a lucrative sideline actually.

This is a general rule with contests and raffles in my experience - the prizes are often things I not so much don't want, but things that I actively want to avoid. If they're not something I can easily sell there's no point in getting the prize and from experience, winning then saying "all I want is the certificate you can keep your prize" does not go down well. Sort of like Christmas, really.
