D200 Exif infoI have come across another problem with my D200, been using it for about 2 months, and have never seen the lens info come up in the exif, but today I took some shots , low and behold, it gave me my lens size, I think I am getting paranoid about my poor camera as it turned out to be grey market, which I didnt know when I ordered it,
Can anyone explain why only today I got the lens to finally show in Exif Any help appreciated, Suzanne Nikon D200, 24-120mm VR, 70-300 ED, SB800 flash, Manfrotto tripod,
Are you sure it wasn't there on the older photos? Check back through them.
Are you using a different lens now than you were? Maybe the old one didn't communicate the data to the camera? Are you having any other problems with the camera? Sounds a bit strange... but I've never heard anyone complain of having this problem before. Paul EDIT... Can you post a 'pre lens info' photo and a 'post lens info' photo for us to check for you? http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com
Living in poverty due to my addiction to NIKON... Is there a clinic that can help me?
Ok I have just resized these two shots, hope the info does show,, I just checked all my photos and the Lens has never shown till yesterday, actually 1 of the guys from the camera club that has helped me with my camera did notice last week that the lens info wasnt showing, very strange that now out of the blue its showing,
Before shot... After shot.. Any help greatly appreciated, Suzanne PS, my strobe flash prob, I looked at quite a few shots online with exif and not had the strobe light detected, yet I do see Deteced if I use the SB800. but that prob I am not to worried about now, have worked around it, Nikon D200, 24-120mm VR, 70-300 ED, SB800 flash, Manfrotto tripod,
Suzanne,
I'm not sure of what the problem is, but I suspect what I'm seeing (as the issue) is somewhat different to what you're seeing as the issue. First of all, have a look at my images in this thread. Look at the exif data here, and you'll see that it's very comprehensive. By way of contrast, when I review your images in this thread, there is nothing like the depth of data present. This leads me to suggest one of several possible reasons for this, especially considering that my images were shot with a D70, and I find it difficult to conceive that the D200's images would contain less data than a D70's. So, perhaps there's an in-camera setting that needs to be explored? More likely, I see that you're using PS for processing your images. PS is already known to strip exif data from it's images in its "save for the web" mode. Doesn't tell you, of course, just does it. Perhaps this is another of Adobe's features? What does the EXIF look like when you examine the images in NV or NCE? That would be my best guess at what's happening here. g.

Hi Gary and thanks for checking , please excuse my ignorance and what is NV or NCE , I use the picture project cd that came with the camera to download my photos from the camera, then cs2 for editing,,
Thanks again Suzanne Nikon D200, 24-120mm VR, 70-300 ED, SB800 flash, Manfrotto tripod,
Suzanne,
Picture Project is a waste of time. Go to the Nikon Asia site and download Nikon View; it's free, and not too bad. NCE is Nikon Capture Editor, and a cut down version is included with NV; there may be a demo version on your CD that came with the camera. If not, you can also download it (the demo) from Nikon Asia. As a primary editing point, I find it's very useful. g.

gee I feel like a complete dodo,, Suzanne Nikon D200, 24-120mm VR, 70-300 ED, SB800 flash, Manfrotto tripod,
I finally found an english version of nikon asia, found the nikon view, then had to look for the update for D200, after doing an account with nikon, i get reply message my serial number and model not correct, is this because its grey market, gee wish I had known my camera was gonna be grey market, if so i would have just bought a d70 in my local shop,
Suzanna Nikon D200, 24-120mm VR, 70-300 ED, SB800 flash, Manfrotto tripod,
From where was your camera sourced? and from whom did you buy the camera?
Being grey market in Oz should not be an issue. It simply means that you need to go to the appropriate source to download the software. For instance, if your camera has a US serial number, go to the Nikon US site. If it's Japanese market, Nikon Japan, and so on. g.

Suzanne - how you get the images from your camera to the computer is not a problem.
I assume you are shooting RAW and you are using Adobe Bridge to preview your images prior to opening in CS2. If you are, you will see the Camera Data (Exif) in the Metadata panel to the left in Bridge when you select a pic. If your Exif data is showing in this panel then it must be that you are incorrectly saving the image through CS2. If the data is not showing then it is a problem within the camera. Chris

Both my D70 and D2Hs and grey and I did not have a problem registering - as Gary has said you will be able to register somewhere. I registered my D70 both through the Asia site and the European Chris

If you want to send me a full JPEG straight out of the camera I can look at the EXIF for you if you can't work it out.
Just use the email button at the bottom of my post. Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com

Paul,
Admit it. You just want someone to send you a PM, don't you? g.
