Picture of the Week - 25 April 2006A word or two of context. It has been an unsettled week here with a death in the family and the subsequent
funeral on Monday. Such events have an effect on how we look at things, and in my case, I tend to take particular enjoyment from scenes exhibiting natural beauty and serenity. Both of those qualities are evident in abundance in Willy wombat's delightful depiction of autumn colours reflected in water, all against a backdrop of a pure blue autumn sky. (And I do believe there is even a duck in there too) Very nice work Steve, and a deserving Picture of the Week The original thread is here Greg - - - - D200 etc

My sincere condolences, Greg, to you and your family.
Though Steve's image stands alone as an impressive piece of work, I can understand why it's natural, simplistic depiction of the beauty in this world appealed to you so much at this time. A good lesson to all of us to take a look around and appreciate the value of the objects and, most importantly, the people that surround us. Congratulations Steve. Not only a lovely shot but obviously one that has brought someone a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise bleak period. Not many pictures can lay claim to that. Simon

Bugger mate....
Good choice... and congrats steve! Go Canberra... If you are thinking of coming here now is the time... it is STUNNING... quite dangerous for photographers actually as you find yourself framing pictures as you drive.... New page

Oh, I know - the matte boards, timber and glass really take up a lot of room in that front seat. Last edited by Manta on Tue Apr 25, 2006 9:23 am, edited 1 time in total.

Thanks guys for the congrats and thanks to Greg for chosing me. Greg our thoughts are with you during this sad time. And thanks to DSLRusers.net and the community we have here. Congratulations. This is a fantastic image and, as I said in the original thread, a fine example of the leap in quality evidenced in your recent work. Greg No words can make up for the loss of someone who is near or dear to you, but please know my thoughts are with you at this time. Peter

Steve : Congrats on POTW. This is a beautifully composed lansdcape shot and well deserving of the award.
Greg : Sorry to hear about the recent death in your family. We have just experienced the death of a family friend as well and it is amazing how being in nature can help you to come to terms with this sort of loss. Michael
