Stolen D70Hi Guys,
Sadly last week I had my Nikon d70 with the kit lens stolen from the eastern suberbs of Melbourne. It had my sb600 in the bag so the whole lot have gone. If anyone hears of a sweet deal, check to see if the serial number is 6006300 and send me a pm. Cheers Find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life.
What a bugger
I guess you've reported it to local police and cash converter/pawn shops etc? Keep an eye out on ebay. Were you insured? Geoff

really sucks that there are those out there who choose to steal stuff rather than work.
Was this a breakin or did someone mug you for the gear?? Worries me sometimes that when out by yourself a gang of thugs could rob you, sad sign of the times I guess. hope you get good news on the d70. Steve check out my image gallery @

Mr Rotty Sorry to here of your loss hope the camera was insured .Check out your local Cash Con@#$%*rs and hock shops . It is amazing that all the legitimate ???!!! articles for sale in these stores don’t have manuals ,chargers ect .
Thanks for the well wishes guys. I have been around to all the second hand traders I could think of and I'm scanning ebay and the Trading post plus the Police have been aware of it. Just checking with insurance to see if it's covered. I have a $200 cash reward for information leading to a recovery so lets see what happens.

So sorry to hear about your loss,, gee I do hope your insurance covers it,, propably not much chance of it turning up again,,,
Hope you back in business soon,,, damn now I gotta think about insurance for my gear,, Suzanne Nikon D200, 24-120mm VR, 70-300 ED, SB800 flash, Manfrotto tripod,
Australia is still a country where if you get off your arse you can achieve anything you realistically want. There is no need for theft. If it's stealing to feed a drug habit, we should adopt the Singaporean model.
The mongrels who stole your gear are just lazy pricks and I hope that they get testicular cancer! T All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
sorry to hear your loss. btw i got my gear insured with content insurance, maybe something to look at for future if you haven't done so?
Whilst I agree that stealing anything from anyone is a very selfish and horrible thing to do, wishing them testicular cancer, or any form of illness isn't really productive either. Something about two wrongs.... Geoff

Just a quick tip - make sure your insurance covers you 'out of the home '. My gear is covered no matter where I am, or what I do to my camera.... if I drop it in a lake, I'm covered. (not that I'm planning to, but you know what I mean). Otherwise, plain home and contents covers you just there ... home.

Just had some good news. The insurance company has agreed to pay for most of the lost property so they are upgrading me from a D70 to a D70s and I have opted to pay a little extra to get a sb800 instead of the 600 so it'll still set me back about 1k but better than losing everything at 4k value

Fantastic news Rotty - you'll have heaps of fun with your new toys

I have no problem with bad things happening to people who deserve it!! It seems to me we are too soft on those who break the law in this country. If they catch this person, it wont have been their fault because they came from a broken home or some similar lame excuse. Steve check out my image gallery @

..and some policies don't even do that. With items like cameras quite often you need to specifically list them to even get coverage at home. Mark
InsuranceAnd when you get your new D70s, make sure you use it to Photo all your other valuables and house hold goods. Photo copy your original invoices for all your valued purchases. Store them in a secure place. Notify your insurance company at policy renewal time that you have this evidence. It helps a lot in claims.
Thanks birdy! I'm looking forward to it.
That's a great idea! I'm a reciept hoarder anyway so I had everything they needed and they acted very quickly. We use CGU and I'm happy to recommend them. Find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life.
Re: Insurance
Also a good idea to store a copy of invoices offsite in case of fire. Physically like photocopy or do what I do I just scan them and email them to a hotmail address, that I do not use for correspondence. I'm back

Re: Insurance
But after three days there'll be no more room left in your hotmail inbox because of all the spam you'd get. Just stick them in the offsite storage that your ISP or hosting service provides you. Upload using FTP, and it's there forever, or until you cancel your account, whichever comes first. g.

Glad to hear, good ideas everyone also, i had all my stuff stolen and luckly my insurace covered all but $500 worth, so i upgraded lenses and ivested on newers models, although my storage drive with my pictures on it was gone too never could get that back, that was irreplacable.

Re: Insurance
True in regards tp spam, but if you set it up so it only accepts mail from your personal email address, it wont fill up with spam. As per uploading to an ISP, it would depend on the account you have. I worked for two ISP and NineMSN. My experience is the the free webspace is not backed up at all. The paid for sites are. Also I think emailing is easier for most people. I'm back
