Selling D70... How much to charge?

Postby NikonUser on Mon May 01, 2006 12:11 am

Hi there,

A friend of a friend has indicated that he may want to buy my D70 off me... I have no idea of what to charge. I searched on Ebay Australia but could only find unfinished auctions going for <$500 or brand new items.

I'd like to get a fair price but don't want to rip the guy off or anything.

D70 is in great condition. No obvious signs of wear and tear, well looked after, 8k shutter actuations.

I actually just realised that the camera's AF motor hasn't ever been used... I've only used AFS and HSM lenses. Hope it works  :!:

EDIT: Do you think $800 is too much?

Paul

P.S. Hope this is in the right forum. It's not for sale as such (haven't decided fully weather I should sell it yet) and isn't a bargin.

Around the 800 mark is fair.

Hiya

I was trying to find standard second hand prices for a D70 recently and had similar issues as you when looking on Ebay, it just wasn't useful because of the auction format...

But I did find the Trading Post was a good place to check... they didn't have so many items, but they did have set prices to compare... (http://www.tradingpost.com.au isn't it?)

Katie,

May as well use oil prices as an indication if you're going to start using Trading Post as a reference point :) The prices on there tend to be jacked up. When I was looking for a backup body, there was a D100 (used) selling for 2.1k and a few D70s (plural) selling for close to brand new kit prices for the body only.

hehe, I take your point on that one... from memory the prices were higher in the trading post than elsewhere when I was looking around to get an idea... but keeping that in mind, I did find it useful to check along with other sources - though I didn't know of this website/forum at that time!

(lol, luckily I was buying my gear from a friend who had a better idea of fair prices than I did...)

I reckon they're worth about $150 :D

Tony

ps let me know when you want to sell.......

seriously $700-$800 should be a fair price for low to medium shutter activations $500+ for high shutter activations. Just my observations.....

you could always ask Cash Converters where I'm sure they'd offer about $1.50 and think they're doing you a favour.....
All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
