"Wake up and smell the pixels!"
Interesting read, has alot of truth in it too, I find with the d70, the d70 sensor in the middle holds the most focus control, the other 4 focus points are slack on focusing in low light

I don't see this article as being about the camera, but about technique.
Consider this summation statement:
Bottom line is that you need to understand what you're doing and how different aspects of one's technique can impact upon others. g.

Agree Gary. The article highlights a flaw in the technique of focus and recompose. Very interesting read, explains some of my crap shots.

Lifes journey is not to arrive at our grave in a well preserved body but, rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Wow what a ride." D70s, D300, 70-300ED, 18-70 Kit Lens, Nikkor 105 Micro. Manfrotto 190Prob Ball head. SB800 x 2.
Quite enlightening. Normally I don't use ay from the outer focus areas because of their apparent innaccuracy compared to the centre one, refering to use it for focus locking prior to recomposure. I guess I'll be rethinking that strategy from now on.
