Just a little Plug.....Hi everyone,
I hope this isn't considered spamming, and I do apologies if it is, then please remove! I just wanted to let you all know I've been busy over the past few months designing and building my own web site. It's the first time I've done anything like this and I've had a crash course in HTML! I was using Trellian Web Page Pro, but am swapping over to Dreamweaver for future work on it. I also went through my entire digital back catalogue and re Photoshopped everything now that I have finally nutted that out (mostly) There are a still a few pages to add, and hopefully they will be up running sometime today, and also a few linking issues. Always teething problems when one undertakes such an enormous task! I'm always interested in a little feedback and open to any suggestions you might have. I wanted something fairly plain, uncomplicated and easy to navigate...and I hope I have achieved this! Enjoy, and let me know what you think! http://www.stormygirl.net
Hi! Stormygirl,
I like it a lot!, love your landscapes and weather pics, would like to have "clicked" on a pic to see it full size I have book marked your site and will surf in again! Excellant!
Stormy, like it. Like Andy said it would be nice to be able to get a larger image. Also at the start in the categories, it would be nice to be able to click the image rather than only the name underneath.
Thanks Andyt, most of the thumbs are linked to higher res images...there are just a few that need fixing (a job for today!)
EDIT, thanks Glen, That is one of the jobs for today after someone else mentioned it too!
I really like your front page and the first pic is one that I thought was great the first time you posted it

Well, aren't you a clever girl? Excellent work Stormy. HTML and I have done battle often. It's always won.

That's a decent job for a beginner at HTML.
My advice, stick with Dreamweaver. It's a bloody impressive tool and I can't go without it (though I can code raw HTML, I'm just usually too lazy to). If you need any help, give me a holler and I'll help you out with it. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Jane,
I like the site. It's design is simple and uncluttered and navigation is easy - although, when I was in the General and Weather photography sections, I tried to click on the displayed images to go to a subsection, rather than the text beneath. No big deal though. I too have been playing with domain name and web site creation over the past few weeks in order to put my photos in a web gallery. Are you using any gallery software to create thumbnails and image placement on the page, or just doing it manually? Frank My photo gallery: http://www.frankalvaro.net

hi stormygirl
looks ok for the first try, please get into dreamweaver and ccs much easier to code your website that way. iam also a beginer with webdesing, but this is what i will change 1. the width of the page? i have to scroll at the bottom left and right just a little bit which is of no use. 2. i would center the words with the photos so that the words do not go out from the margin of the photo. 3. the logos i think should go at the bottom of the page, they are not paying you (yet) to advertise their companies. 4. the favicon, i can see you are using the same host as me, delete it. you can make you own little icon with an extension from photoshop. this is how http://photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/j ... vicon.html hope it helps christian check my website>> http://www.6701.sunpixs.com
Thankyou very much everyone, appreciate it!
makario: I don't believe I can show exif details as I used the 'save for web' option in Photoshop which I think strips the exif info. Nnnnsic: Thanks, I'll see how I go! Yet to use it, but I've heard all about it! Frankenstein: I will link the images as well as the text on the general and weather photography sections, when I get a chance! I resize all my pics in Photoshop. I 800 on the longest border, and the other 200 on the longest border for the thumbs. I then insert them on the page with Trellian Web Page Pro (piece of rubbish, really!) but it was very easy. byrt_001: I built all the pages in Trellian, but then my Husband went through them all in ccs to 'refine' everything! It looks like Dreamweaver is the way to go, and will use it in the future. I am using a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 which appears to be the going trend at the moment, and am not keen on redoing everything including the banner!! The logos will stay where they are as they only appear on the index/home page. I am affiliated with all of them in one way or another and they are important links to me! I actually didn't realise I had a favicon until I opened it up in Firefox. It doesn't worry me at this stage, and is the least of my worries!
I hope some of you don't mind, but I am going to re do my links page and add some of your sites to it! If you see it there and you don't want to, please email me and I'll remove it! Or, if you would like to see it on my links page email me too!!
Most likely change it over the next few days, as I have a couple more pages to build and will give me a chance to try out Dreamweaver!
good job.
