Picture of the Week May 09, 2006

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

Picture of the Week May 09, 2006

Postby Geoff on Tue May 09, 2006 9:22 am

This week's POTW is by BigV - who posted two beautiful images in the one post. It was a bit of a decision choosing which one for POTW, but as soon as I saw his post earlier in the week, knowing it was my turn to choose, I had a very likely 'winner'. I am always amazed at the high quality images which are submit each week! The benchmark is soo much higher here than it once was. BigV - kudos to you for a wonderful image. The light, the composition and the contrast make this image and is one I have kept coming back to since BigV's initial post. :D Here it is:

Congrats Big V, I had this one marked down as a potential POTW the first time I saw it, the balance in this shot between sky and ground is just beaut. Well done!

Thanks all, there is a lot to be said for always carrying your camera and keeping an eye out for that which stands out from the norm. I enjoy recording the changes in life that constantly surround me on a daily basis. It is fun and I derive a sense of personal satisfaction when I capture these moments - they may not always be technically brilliant but they are stand out moments..
