Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone had a good technique on how to put a whole heap of images on one page (say A3+) in PS. I'm wanting to make a collage for my sister and was wondering the best way to do this. I've had a play with making a contact sheet but I want the images in some instances to overlap and fill the entire piece of paper. Thanks in advance troops

Geoff,
I was faced with the same task several month ago in an attempt to produce one for my dad's 60th. Took me a few weeks (i had to scan some old photos) and the final size of the file (in jpg) was 200 mb. I used technique outlined in Scott Kelby's book. Basically you creat a layer for each photo and then use gradient to mix them up. Quite simple once you get a hang of it. Let me know if you want copies of the pages from the book and I will send it to you as pdf.

if you would like to do this in a more manual way
iv'e done thsi before in adobe illustartor. I got 50 images from someone's life
made 50 even squares that fitted i a DL format (1/3 of A4 sheet)
then manually cropped each individual pic to one square each
I ended up with a historical mosaic of this persons life
i choose 50 pix because they had turned 50
not sure if photoshop can layout like this automatically but it's a nice concept sweet and simple if you have the time to play

i'm never good at explaining things so here is an example of something i designed with the mosaic concept, it folded into a DL envelope
the design is elegant and simple

I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"

Vince - this software looks excellent on first glance! Thank you!
Wendell - my photoshop/illustrator skills are no where near yours, I don't know if I'd be able to do what you have done too easily.
Obzelite - thanks for the info, now I have to make a choice

Vince
2 little minuses:
Std version costs US$39.95 and for that you get "Lumapix banners" on your finished product ("There is a subtle banner under emailed and published collages. Printed Collages have no banner"). Have to pay US$89.95 not to.
2nd minus - requires internet access. This is OK if it's only for activation, but if you have to be online to use it - yuk!
Featurewise it looks interesting.

I gave the shareware copy a go, I was actually going to hand design before this was posted, I love the auto collate feature.
But as Peter said it is very pricey.

Nice collage there Craig. The price is a let down I agree Peter. What a bummer.

Geoff. This is a very small version of what I did. I basically used one 3008x2000 photo from D70 as background (I first upsized it using GF to 16 x 24) and then added all the other bits.
Will send you the pages tomorrow.

Yes, it is abit pricey, but it does the job. You don't have to be online to use it.
