Off to Greece (without D70)

Postby the foto fanatic on Thu May 11, 2006 6:22 pm

Tomorrow I leave for Greece to attend the wedding of my friends' son. I'll be away until the end of the month.

After much deliberation, I've decided not to take my D70. The main reason for this decision is that a few of us will be travelling together in a car in Greece, and with suits and evening dresses for the wedding, space will be at a premium.

So I'm taking a P&S instead - a Canon A620. Compact enough to fit in my shirt pocket, 7.1 megapixels, 4X zoom.

Of course there are compromises. I'm mainly worried about noise, although early results are encouraging. It doesn't shoot RAW, only sRGB JPEGs, so I'll need to be careful with PP. Only on-board flash too, although the lens is f2.8 at the wide end.

I'll pass on my thoughts when I return.

Have fun while I'm away. :D

Trevor I hope you have a great time and no regrets on your return about your choice. I look forward to seeing some of the shots

Just think how many posts you'll have missed by the time you return
