Where is Atorie?

Postby PiroStitch on Tue May 09, 2006 11:36 am

Has anybody seen Atorie around or does anybody here have direct contact with him?

I bought a lens from him and I need the tracking ID but he has not been contactable :( Starting to feel edgy about the delivery.

It's been nearly a week. Was sent last Wednesday...have been told it should only take 2-3 working days and it's day 4 and counting.

I can't follow it up with Aust Post as I haven't been given the tracking ID. :(

Guys - before you panic. Aussie Post Brisbane to Sydney or Melbourne can, ,and often does, take 5 business days despite what they may say (I oughta know - I work for a mailing house). Start worrying at the end of the week.

Guys, it'll turn up soon :)

The SB-600 parcel delivery notice turned up monday, collected it yesterday lunchtime.

Atorie packed the parcel very well, all arrived unscathed by AusPost and it matches exactly the description he posted in the for sale notice. Gear works perfectly.

You can't track registered post number on Australia Post Website.

Stay put and stay still and sit back, relax, wait for its arrival..

I collected some gear from Michael today.

Don't worry he hasn't done a runner. He struck me as a good, honest bloke.

I'm sure your parcel is on the way.

Birddog,

I know what you're saying......but, Australia Post can take 6 working days to take a letter from 1 side of Brisbane to the other. I could have walked it there quicker. And that isn't an isolated incident..... :D

Tony,
Belmore (2192) & Campsie (2195) is about 2kms in distance, I got my mail from my customer in Campsie after 7 working days.

You got better deal than me, 6 days from one side to other side of Brisbane.

When I phoned AP, the operator had basically memorised their entire script:

"I can assure you we work swiftly and efficiently to get your parcel out to you, blah blah blah"....riiiigggght. 7 working days and counting mister.

Because there are no other options? You wouldn't courier a letter at about 10-20 times the cost of a stamp (unless it was high priority and needed to get there the same day).

This what happens when there is 0 competition :S

We put up with it because we have no choice. The LAW says Australia Post has a monopoly on delivering "standard articles" (that's what you and I call an ordinary old letter). So competition is only there for odd size letters (non standard articles) and parcels. This obviously encourages complacency.

Hey guys, since this purchase is now in the public forum i might as well comment on the situation...
Package was sent to Piro on the 3rd of May, as at 12th of May it has not arrived... Piro was a little worried that i'd done a runner because I've been hard to contact over the last few days (saying my goodbyes and getting things ready to relocate to Canada), however Piro and I have been in contact at least once a day...
There has been seven other members from this forum who have purchased items from me over the last weeks, all of which have arrived without problems....
To ease Piro's concerns I have refunded him the funds for the item and delivery until then lens arrives in his hands...
I have been in contact with AusPost and they are running a "late/non-delivery investigation" to determine the location and status of the parcel...
I unfortunately don't run AusPost so I cannot guarantee their timeframes and cannot control their delivery methods..

Actually, there are other options. Express post is more reliable as it's trackable and is dirt cheap, so is the AirFreight Express (green satchels). Not to mention guaranteed next day delivery. I just purchased a Sigma 70-200 from a forum member which was sent by Pack&Send. Arrived next day and they even called me to confirm I received it. No hassles. Yes, it was $30, but for the goodies I paid $850 for, I believe it was worth it.

Express Post is difference from Registered Post and snail mail.
If Express Post is not delivery next day as stated on the bag or envelope (With no other exception postcode) than AP will give you another bag as replacement.
I used Express Post daily to send orders to members and hear from them next day.

Michael,

Sorry mate I wasn't expecting you to feel obliged to post this to defend yourself. I wasn't inciting that you had done a runner on me with this post - just an ordinary who is able to help me out post, which blew out to be a bitch session about Aust. Post :)

Appreciate all the help and your trust though in the matter.

Hi Guys,

I'll just jump and mention that I bought Micheals D70, he sent it Thursday and I got it Monday, registered + COD.

Actually the postage was included in that, so maybe AP was more motivated!?

-Danny

P.S. Hey Micheal, check your email I have a question!!

He seems to have disappeared from the forums and doesn't reply to my emails, anyone seen him?

So I didn't get exactly what he promised via email when we made the deal and I've discovered a couple of spots on the CCD he didn't say anything about. I'm afraid it takes the shine off my purchase just a bit....

From memory, he was selling as he was off overseas.

The spots on the CCD probably just need to be blown off with an air rocket or a wet clean may be needed. Should be too big of a deal.

Yeah, he was headed to Canada I think. But not a peep from his .mac or gmail addresses. Which tends to make me less prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt...

I've tried the Giotto, might be looking at a wet clean. Wondering if I should wait for a mini meet and get shown or give it a go myself?

Well you should try living in Bilo,

I ordered equipment, it comes on GreyHound Coaches as part of their delivery system.

The olny problem is they come only once a week....

So the parts got from HK to Sydney quicker than from Sydney to here.

Relax, Aust Post may be slow .. But aleast they are rough.

Certainly, when I travel, I may be out of action in terms of Internet access for a few days to weeks, especially when going bush. Plenty of that in Canada :-)

I've tried the Giotto, might be looking at a wet clean. Wondering if I should wait for a mini meet and get shown or give it a go myself?

Certainly a mini-meet will have plenty of people to help out and show you how. Plenty of instructions around as well, if you have the tool, pec pads, eclipse fluid. Also, plenty of discussions on these forums.

good luck. I did it on my own a couple times, nerve racking at first, but when all done, you wonder why you worried to start off with.

Cheers,
