Which interface for Epson R1800?

Hi

I'm just about to purchase an Epson R1800.
This printer does not come with either a USB or Firewire interface lead.

Which interface should I go for... or is the performance difference insignificant?
(Firewire won't suck CPU resources like a USB port does at the time of printing.)

I'd be interesteed in hearing from R1800 owners who have tried both.

I'm ordering this online, so I want to make sure I order the correct lead at the same time.

I've tried both firewire and USB2 - the firewire is significantly faster - go that option and you won't be sorry. Hope this helps

I've just discovered Firewire comes in 4 pin and 6 pin connectors.

Can you please tell me (and the R1800 brochure doesn't say), what Firewire connector is on the back of the R1800?

Do I need to buy a 4pin or 6 pin lead?

I think it's a six pin lead, I've taken a photo of both ends. The end on the left goes into the R1800, and the end on the right goes into the PC.

The firewire cable really depends on the firewire interface (connection) you have on the back up your PC. Check what you have there and you may need the larger 6 pin connector on both the Printer and Computer side.

You may need a 6 pin to 6 pin
