I've tried both firewire and USB2 - the firewire is significantly faster - go that option and you won't be sorry. Hope this helps Geoff

I think it's a six pin lead, I've taken a photo of both ends. The end on the left goes into the R1800, and the end on the right goes into the PC. and the back of the printer: Geoff

The firewire cable really depends on the firewire interface (connection) you have on the back up your PC. Check what you have there and you may need the larger 6 pin connector on both the Printer and Computer side.
