Picture of the week 23 May 2006This week I made a pleasant discovery while going through the images posted over the last week. I generally see most image posts here, but somehow missed the image in THIS POST my first time around. Lucky for me I stumbled across this excellent shot of Paul's as part of my POTW duties. One of the first shots taken with his new D2x camera, this image really appeals to me for a number of reasons: it's fantastically well exposed and I love both the composition and the colours. Paul laments the fact he missed the sunset, but this image more than makes up for it.
Congratulations Paul Peter

Well deserved, Paul. This shot was a winner the moment you hit the submit button. I hope it's value isn't decreased by the fact that there are just way too many shots of this type around.... geez, they're on the cover of just about every major photography and nature magazine published.

Now now Peter - I hope this isn't an indication you're favouring those with a D2X now!
Agree that this is a fantastic shot, well composed and great use of light. I don't think it would have been quite as appealing with the sun still up - perfect timing in my book Well done Paul *** When getting there is half the fun! ***

Paul, I had a look at the image at work today (missed the original thread) but wanted to wait with my comment till I'd seen it on the calibrated display at home.
I'm impressed how well you squeezed in the dynamic range without making the image look flat. The wall detail really lifts it up a few notches. Congrats on POTW, well deserved! Cheers Steffen.
Great shot Paul, well done. Beautiful colours in a scene invoking serenity.
