I still fail to see a connection between DSLRs and guitars. Wouldn't a more fitting question be "how many D200 users play accordion"? Cheers Steffen.
Nothing's changed for me since I posted last on this thread. My '98 Tele still sits gathering dust by the computer desk.. the '88 Strat Plus is still at my parents' place (moved out more than 2 years ago!!) as is the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp.
"One day", I'll get back into it.
Touché Are we there yet?
i can play guitar, although not very well, or very much. if i put more practise into it, it would be alright. but i actually play drums, have been for 5 years now, i think i will stick to them.

We got a Maton acoustic and a Cole Clark acoustic a few months ago.
I can fumble around on it but wouldn't really call it playing.
really? must be in one of the custom functions
It wouldn't be more fitting, but equally, it wouldn't be less fitting either. The connection is abstract, and it's the same connection that sees a high number of our members engaged in occupations within the IT industry. When you're talking about music, photography, and/or IT, you're talking about an activity that is based upon applied mathematics, and that's where the connection lies. g.

Okay.... I can play guitar well, take a reasonable photo, can work my way around most computer situations but I can't do maths and I'm murdering my saxophone. I've obviously got some unresolved brain wiring issues... (I'm quite often the exception to the rule..!) Simon

I play instrumental rock, progressive rock, jazz, latin jazz, fusion... on the guitar.
Although I only have 3 of them, 2 Ibanez electrics (RGs) and one Takamine acoustic. Blog: http://grevgrev.blogspot.com

That would be me, in fact. But perhaps sax is not your instrument? Liking it - enjoying it even - doesn't neccesarily mean it's the right one for you. Bagpipes, perhaps? g.

Thats true, the double bass doesn't have any frets to so im redeemed there.... also If I had enough money I'd buy a les claypool 6 string fretless bass or his 4 string fretted they are such nice basses. But I've since moved away from pop/slap recently and have joined a rockabilly band as a drummer/double bassist I don't know which one I'll be as yet but I gotta practice on both so the electric doesn't get much of a play anymore. Are we there yet?
Hee hee. Now that I've softened my neighbours up with the saxophone, I can finish them off with "Scotland the Brave"... Simon

Interesting thread...
Here's my 2 cents worth: I sing and play flute, guitar and piano. I have a vintage sunburt Ovation and a Maton 12 string, as well as a flute and small upright piano. Played as part of a duo whilst at uni and this paid my way thru the course (studied applied physics). I have only taken up the piano fairly recently, and my most requested pieces are 'twinkle twinkle little star' and anything by the wiggles (to a very critical and highly involved audience - my young daughter - aka baby gecko) Father hood has slowed my adventure pursuits - keen mountaineer, but continue to kayak when I can. Multiple cameras, kayaks, tents & musical instruments (am I spoilt?) Cheers Gecko Nikon D70, SB600, Benbo Trekker, LSII, KingPano and a lot to learn!
Some people ask such unnecessary questions. Such as what is the connection between the D70 and playing guitar. The connections are clear, (with the best of humour). An inquisitive spirit, a love of individual pursuits, [an intuitive sense of applied maths], an artistic nature, a respect for the finer things in life, a love of well made instuments, listening to a John Williams guitar piece in the background while using the D70 and a PB-6 to capture the latest interest, the common nature of photography and music as a form of artistic expression, a desire to create the longest thread on the forum. Take your pick or add freely to the list. I get enjoyment out of both and that is connection enough for me, but when this thread was originally started by a guitar playing D70 photographer I think he was looking to see if there was a real correlation between the two and judging by the response there are a great number of photographers that enjoy guitar playing. Of course, I am not saying that one causes the other but maybe we can square the circle, work the number 42 into this thread and set off on a new tangent in pursuit of this topic.
Over the last few years this thread has also served as a good excuse to welcome new members who 'discover' it and add to the proprietary brand of humour that seems unique to the site. In the end we know Nothing, but in the meantime Learn like crazy.

Re: How many D70 users can play the guitar?i've been playing the guitar for i think 16 years now.... but i'm only 23 now so basically forever! also played the saxophone for 6 or 7 years back in the school days, i led a jazz/rock/ska band back then. just to round it off nicely i've just started teaching myself the piano in the last four weeks - the thing has only been sitting in the house here for ooh a good 18 years or so - it's not as hard as i thought it might be! i'm also one of those people that has almost perfect pitch but can't sing to save his life, it's one of the most horrible sounds known to man
