Picture of the Week - 6 June 2006

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

Picture of the Week - 6 June 2006

Postby the foto fanatic on Tue Jun 06, 2006 9:10 am

Despite the date, there were some absolutely top images from which to select this week's PotW. (Anything with a horror theme didn't make the final cutoff - 666 images  ).

The winner this week has submitted a significant number of high quality images recently.

For example, this thread contains the winning image and another fine photo.

Folks, the winnner is stubbsy, with the image of Darling Harbour, from his Neon Night post above.

Image

This picture was actually made with a Nikkor 10.5 FE lens, and then partially defished to produce the stunning result you see.

Some night shots can be cliches, but not this one. It is postcard perfect, with outstanding colours and spot-on exposure.

Congratulations Peter.

Great pick,

congrats Peter, as others have said, you are showing us some great work lately. That FE lens is certainly more then just a toy in your hands,

PS: If you haven't viewed this pic in a larger size (I recommend that you navigate to Peter's smugmug site and look at the original), then you haven't experienced its full impact.

There is a lot of detail to enjoy.

Macka,
"Duck" is only applied to our friendly guy named Stubbsy

Rooboy,

Yes, I had grilled duck marinated with salt, chili & lemon grass last night! Yummy
