Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat

Taken this afternoon at our local 'zoo' - this wombat was sitting at the entrance to its burrow - crappy photo, but seeing this animal is endangered, I'm happy to get any kind of shot. They are not normally out in the enclosure, so was lucky to get even this

Aha!! So that's what they look like. An evil mother-in-law.

There seems to be a minor white balance issue with your image. Too much red.

Hah! Wombats are cool.

Not too bad lighting either - I always run into trouble when trying to shoot animals that have retreated into burrows/shelters/holes etc. Either it's all dark and crappy, or flash-soaked and crappy.

Yes wombats are cool. Difficult scene to flash photograph with the overhang though.

I'll have to go back and see if I can get them when they are out of their hides - little buggers are asleep most of the day
