Hi RICPIC,
I'm probably missing something here, pardon my ignorance Can you help me out and explain what the dodgey thing is ? Appologies to everyone who got it except for me. Thanks, CD
It was a Nikkor noct, 58mm f/1.2, very nice looking lens.
The seller had a 100% feedback history on about 150 items. You might be thinking that should mean they're OK but they gained that history by selling mostly $2 books. With no previous history of selling photo gear or anything of value the seller suddenly lists of over 50 high priced, high quality items, mostly photo gear; Leicas, Hassys etc including the noct that I was drooling over. The sale price of the items was substantially lower than usual, not a total giveaway but a nice saving. The other things that made it look dodgy were: * in the body of the listing the seller advised potential buyers not to bid but to contact the seller directly to buy at a set price. * the finish time on all 50 items was the same, to the minute. By it's removal from Ebay (i informed Ebay of it about an hour ago) it appears to have been a pretty shrewd scam. The gear listed wasn't your obvious consumer gear but well chosen high quality gear with good reputation, the sort of stuff that's easy to lust after and the listings appeared bona fide at first glance. RICPIC - Nice work indeed - interested in an investigative career?

I'm interested when I'm outlaying my hard earned to virtual sellers. I'm allergic to getting ripped off, don't react well at all. D200, 12-24DX, 28-70/2.8, 80-200/2.8, 105M/2.8, SB800, Rollei 2.8F
Out of interest..were the pictures and the item description the same as this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... %3AIT&rd=1 This link is to genuine item which ended some time ago. I reported another scammer using this item description to ebay last night. It was removed by midday today (when I checked). Seems likely the brazen scammer just used another hijacked account to relist it as soon as the other listng was cancelled. FWIW I estimate 30% of nikon noct listings are not genuine...been checking them out for the last 6 months or so..
yep, the same pics were used in this listing. there were 50 other items listed by the same seller in the same manner all with nice pics. D200, 12-24DX, 28-70/2.8, 80-200/2.8, 105M/2.8, SB800, Rollei 2.8F
