New Kid on the Block HereHi Folk. I have just discovered this treasure chest of information and camaraderie and simply wanted to say g'day and that I hope to become a part of this place and maybe find that I can force myself to take some time off and join you in some outings, etc., as well as hunt some fresh images.
Friendly critique is a very valuable tool for development and we should never stop developing, eh? After 30 years of shutter operations, I still enjoy the thrill of that magic moment when the shutter trips and you "know" that was a good one. Best wishes to all Col
Welcome Col! It sounds like you will bring a wealth of experience to us too .
I know you'll like it here - the QLD ppl are a friendly group and I'm sure they'd love to see you at a meet. What camera/s are you currently shooting with? Geoff
Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
Thanks for the welcomeThanks Geoff. Kind of you to welcome me to this family. My gear is fairly wide in format and varied. I have a soft spot for the older cameras of good quality in film cameras. From the simplistic approach with an Olympus XAII through a superb Contax IIa rangefinder to a small collection of Nikons. When I am feeling masochistic and muscular I like to play with my Linhof 4x5 Technika although as an outdoor shooter, it usually makes me breathe heavier after a few kilometres in the bush.
Digitally, at present, I am using a Sony f828 with very satisfactory result although I am watching the Nikon D2x and future developments of the Sony Alpha in Pro grade models. I am fairly advanced with Photoshop if anyone has questions and am always looking for the answers to the many questions I still have. The more I learn, the more I come to realise how little I know! All the best Col
Re: Thanks for the welcome
All good to know and have the PS expertise at hand. Linhof 4x5 Very nice...would like to see some of the pics from this...not all forum members would have an appreciation of spending $20 per capture...if we did I think our quality would improve drastically That said the convenience of the Digital is without a doubt fantastic Welcome and can't wait to see sme captures
welcome to the forum...from another newbie.
wow Linhof 4x5...would love to see some shots from that. read faq. take care christian check my website>> http://www.6701.sunpixs.com
Large format photography surely does slow you down and make you think before you press the plunger. I have not had the opportunities to shoot with the big begger as often as I should. I find myself walking around with the zoom viewfinder pressed to my eye like movie director when composing to save the effort of setting up the camera all the time.
When I can get a spare moment, I would like to post some images mostly taken digitally (I confess it is much easier ) and get some critique from you folk please. I had better get back to work. Catch you later. Col
