losfp wrote:That all sounds great Birdy!! Very full (activity and stomach wise ) schedule ahead. I guess we will do a quick vote on restaurants etc in the days leading up.. We will probably leave Sydney around 3:30pm on the Friday and get up there ASAP! Not sure we will go to all the meals, but we'll see what people want to do.
If you leave Sydney at 3:30pm, more chance for you to get into Birubi Caravan Park at 6:30pm or earlier and it's just 5 minutes drive to Boat Harbour.
Usually, took me 2 hours and 15 mins or two & half hour from my Sydney base to Boat Harbour.
Dinner & Lunch or selection restaurant are not important.
Nelson Bay has heap of eateries & varieties in its vicinity.
You can make your own decision once you got there.

LostDingo,
If weather permitted, will you do sunrise shoot on early Saturday morning at Boat Harbour?

For me - I'll still be in bed and I'm guessing Leigh will be too.

I though Leigh is not coming coz he mentioned: "Sunrise and Sunset shooting is boring", and he won't get into it.
The main activity for this trip is Sunset shooting over Stockton Bigh sand dunes or am I missing something?
and sunrise shooting is just our proposal for Saturday or Sunday morning.

Well, that's not too bad. 6am is my normal wake up time anyway. If this was back in uni however, where my hours were something like 11am - 3am
Might be a bit rough that early, but I reckon I might give it a go if others are keen. Dragged myself all the way up there, I might as well!!

Des,
Sunrise shooting is a bonus if it happens, don't know yet.
We may decide it when we are upthere and depend on the energies left from all after a long day with fun, especially after sunset shooting, dinner and reds.

I won't be able to make it but I recommend the Seagrass restaurant in Salamander Bay. Excellent food, licensed but you can BYO.
Cheers

Thanks Sheila!
Been there once and not again!
I'm up in the area two to three days/ weeks for the last 12 months and been up there nearly 4 years, am a "part timer" residence of Boat Harbour, Port Stephens (less than 10 min drive to Nelson Bay and Salamander Bay).
Next time, if you're in the area, we might meet up, I'll show you some other interested restaurants in the area.

Good point birdy. Wait till that weekend, and then see what happens.
Have you already paid for the 4WDs? When do you want to see $$$ from us?

I'm a bit annoyed I couldn't come.
Was told I had work for this weekend and then the shoot got cancelled last minute because the makeup artist and hair stylist got sick. Bugger.

Leon, you didn't get the front row - isn't the 10.5 wide enough?!?!
Pretty squashy in that bus, but a fun ride nonetheless!!!
What a brilliant weekend. Can't speak highly enough about the friendliness and generosity exhibited by all who attended.
Stuart - I'd like to apologise to your Japanese exchange student on behalf of all Australians for the group thoroughly misleading him all day on all things Aussie - hope he had a great day out though

And a big thank you to Birddog for organising this great outing. Now if only I had time to get some PP done before every decent photo idea I came up with on the day has been stolen and posted here by Sheepie, Losfp & Huynhie

I'd just like to echo posts already in this thread. It was a fantastic weekend and everyone was very friendly to the newbie. Thanks to all involved in organising this relaxing weekend. Long live the koala!
