Look LK-A5 PSD Review

Postby vicpug on Wed Jun 21, 2006 10:07 am

I have been looking for cost effective camera storage for SD cards. Nexto and PD70 appeared rather expensive for just a box - even though they are very fast. Settled on this LK-A5 USB OTG enclosure with a quick Look 133x SD USB card reader. I added a 60gb 5400rpm Samsung 2.5" disc. This uses either AC adaptor or 4XAA pack or USB powered if attached to a computer. As a USB 2.0 disc connected to my PC this unit achieves 20mb/sec write or read speed. Offloading SD cards is quite quick - a full 1GB SD card (with raw Nikon .nef files) offloads in 2mins 20seconds - a rate of 7mb/second - which is very quick. Good value from oz ebay.

OTG Copy via USB cable

Postby vicpug on Fri Jun 23, 2006 11:40 am

Oops, forgot to mention that you can also connect your camera via its supplied USB cable to the LOOK OTG device and download the images - just press the copy button - this obviates the need for a CF or SD card reader but much slower.

Very innovative Vicpug, if a little cumbersome
