Thanks Matt, all useful. I am currently grappling with the mysteries of the SB-800 manual, which you have previously noted as being incomprehensible. I suspect it was translated from the original tlhIngan.
So any additional info is welcome. This guys steps are a bit like the book that explained how to solve the Rubik's Cube, but hopefully, some will seep through.... Greg - - - - D200 etc

How have you guys found the experience of the d70/sb800 combination to be?
I must say that on camera it's great. Exposure is tops, which is to say that it is true to Nikon's digital philosophy of protecting hightlights. Off the camera, with the body pop-up flash as the commander, I have found it to be very dark a lot of the times. I must learn to adjust the slave mode exposure, but just wondering if you guys have any thoughts from this. It seems a lot more control can be had with another SB800 as the commander, but certainly not in this amateur's budget. DN26
DN,
Still trying to figure it out. Took some pictures the other day and I must say it seemed to blow all of the color off of their faces. This SB 800 is like a torrid love affair for me. I sort of love it, but it's so confusing that I can't stand it sometimes. Oh well I guess it will come with time.
