Please stop, I can souffle no more. I just want to be coddled for a while.

I hope people who win prizes for this competition don't just frittata them away, but as they say in the classics, quiche to their own.

Photomicrography is also not permitted for this challenge.

Just wondering Macro is "meant to be" 1:1 or higher what is Micro ? Or does it mean the same thing ?

I got the point that no Microscopes were meant to be used, but does it rule out macro style shots feature one egg ?

Photomicrography is not macro. It is the use of a microscope and camera :)

Macro is fine

Two points ...

Your image must contain as the obvious, primary, identifiable and dominant element, one egg.

So, it must be obvious and identifiable as an egg. If the average person looking at it cannot see that it's an egg, it's probably out.

Photomicrography is also not permitted for this challenge.

Macro is fine, but you cannot use a microscope.

Does that help?

Somehow this must be related. :P Anyone boiling their eggs first?

She was in the kitchen doing the boiled eggs for
breakfast. He walks in and asks "What's for
breakfast?"

She turns to him and says, "You've got to make love to
me this very moment".

He, thinking it's his lucky day, stands her over the
kitchen table and they have sex.

Afterwards he says, "What was that all about?"

She says "The egg timer's broken!"

hello,

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

This is my first entry into a challenge, and I just wanted to ask if the way I have uploaded my file onto http://www.potofgrass.com/gallery/challenge10 is OK.

I logged in, I choose add photo, browsed for my pic, added a note, uploaded.

I could then see my pick while logged in.

Then, under my pic, was an option to "Hide". I chose "Hide", and then the caption under the pic said "Hidden". I then logged out, and the album is "empty".

I logged back in to confirm, and my pick was visible to me, while logged in, but says "hidden".

Does that sound like the normal way?

Perhaps someone in here may be an administrator, and if so, I would be happy to know my egg has landed safely...?

thanks so much, and I look forward to seeing the creativity in the group.
Oz.

Oz, In the first post in this thread it says Round 1 closes, Gallery opens 4.7.06. Reading Scott's other posts I think that is about 9pm.

Just wanted a quick clarification of the rules while I'm putting pen to paper for the second round submissions.

One egg: Your image must contain as the obvious, primary, identifiable and dominant element, one egg.

Is this to be taken literally? I.E. can only be 'one' egg?

If so.. it's back to the drawing board for me.

cheers

Mark,

One egg must be the primary and obvious (etc) subject. That does not mean that the image must contain just one egg, but if there are, for instance, several eggs in the image, one of them should stand out as the primary subject.

Putting that in different terms, I think a clump of salmon roe on a bed of rice, (yes, sushi) would find it difficult to be compliant, whereas a dozen carton of eggs, with maybe 5 removed, and a gap between one at one end, and the remaining half dozen, all grouped together at the other, but selective focus applied to the one (the others nicely OOF in the background) would possibly be ok.

Does that help?

If not, PM myself or Scott.

The way I read that was that I could have the "one egg" in crisp focus as the main subject, but I could have a dozen in the background to create a "egg bokeh" of sorts and that would be ok, as only one egg was the main key focus and the other eggs are only a background element.

Just playing devil's advocate here...

I still think it's a little academic discussing the rules of entry when it's only going to come down to how voters interpret an image anyway. Has a shot ever been disqualified prior to voting on the basis that it didn't fit the theme???

Simon, images have been disqualified before.

The idea of a theme is so all entries are on an even footing, not down to voters interpretation of a theme. You probably remember decisive moment, not everyone had the same idea of what is a decisive moment. Hopefully all voters agree on what an egg is.
