Thank you Birddog,

I was tempted at times to buy from there, however a particular gentleman, whose name I'm not going to mention, has dedicated his time and connections to make available to our members some bargains at cost price which is just unbelievable. This gentleman is giving his time and connections again and again.
Say best regards when you meet this person.

Cheers

Ummm

Re the first referenced post about them being closed down. They are in the US, but digital-rev-oz is still going strong on eBay - they're a power seller.

Wonder if the US one is the same

I've not bought from them as they sound a bit dodgy (no GST guaranteed etc)

DigitalRev is not the same as digital-rev-oz...
Two different people I believe.
I bought from digital-rev-oz few times before without any dramas.
However Mr. Poon will have all my business from now on :D
Cheers.

Shame about the name. Unfortunate coincidence.

I have delt with dig-rev-oz once before with no problems. But I have always been very wary of buying off ebay.

Judging by all the satisfaction people have on this board about hksupplies I will prolly buy my next thing through them.

I would recommend digital-rev-oz, I found them excellent. I have found everyone I have dealt with on Ebay excellent. Do your homework regards feedback etc and I'm sure you will save a bundle, I have! Just remember that on a high price item customs might hit you GST so factor that in when you are sizing up the item and you may get lucky, nice bonus. Alternatively, buy from some of the crowds that are based in oz like jd-onlineshop, they are great, no GST surprises here!

We have just posted a "Liaison Officer" TDY with HKG Supplies for 3 months so there are many opportunities we can enjoy our benefits over here.

Hi everyone, first post here.

Just wanna share my experience with Digital-Rev.

My first purchase in October last year, consisting of 2 x SB-800s, went well. No GST.

My recent purchase (2 weeks ago), of a 10.5mm fisheye lens, left me with a bad taste in the mouth. Digital-Rev stated that the lens will come with Nikon International Warranty (12 months). I reminded them to include the stamped warranty slip and the invoice, with the shipping.

It turned out that there was no warranty slip and invoice. Further communication led them to ask me to accept 12 months Seller's Warranty (which implicitly means they lied regarding this item's warranty on the eBay listing page). Took a hit with GST (but the seller did not promise 'no GST', so it's ok with me).

I persisted on requesting the delivery of the warranty slip and invoice, threatening to take this matter to eBay and to leave negative feedback, until they finally offered me a refund. I haven't replied yet. I don't think they would want to pay me the extra cost for GST.

My speculation is that they do this often. Customers who are worried that their purchased items may need repair, will probably just accept the Seller's warranty since they may still need to deal with Digital-Rev.

What do you guys think? I'm tempted to just report this to eBay and leave negative feedback for Digital-Rev. I'll just take the risk with the flashes and prime lenses, hoping that they won't need repair soon.

Welcome to the forum.

My question to you is what good do you believee reporting them to ebay will do? It's not as if they actually act on complaints they recieve?

My only other advice is that many members here deal with HK supplies with whom we have a better than warm relationship. While those here who have been designated "members" may have full access to the "bargains" section and the benefits that offers, there's no reason you cannot contact them directly for a purchase, and even their regular prices are generally better than what you'll get anywhere else in this country.

Thanks for the reply, Gary. I will definitely consider HK supplies for my future photography-related purchases.

Regarding reporting Digital-Rev to eBay, I read somewhere that if a seller breaks eBay rules 3 times, their account gets suspended.

I suppose it's the idealist in me speaking out. I just think it's the right thing to do, so that other eBayers who are considering buying off Digital-Rev may come across my feedback, and take it into their consideration. It'll be helpful for someone like me, who considers the Nikon International Warranty as a big factor in my lens purchasing decision.

Btw, what a great community we've got here. It is great that the forum community has formed a warm relationship with HK supplies.

I've used Digital-Revs-AU on ebay a few times now and have only had very good experience wth them. My only gripe was that I stuffed up with one order and the lens hood for a f2.8 80-200 was the wrong type. I shouldnt have assumed that all the Nikkor 2.8 80-200 lenses would use the same mounting system.

I had no idea there was more than one digital-revs shop.

I'm totally new to the fourm so, could someone possibly post up a link to where this HK suppplies is?

thanks,

Mark

Please see http://stores.ebay.com/www-hksupplies-com

http://www.hksupplies.com is hopelessly out of date and you should not rely on it for info or prices - you will note photos from the top of the World Trade Centre on there - it's that bad...

The Ebay store is current, and hopefully by the year's end hksupplies.com should bring a whole new online shopping experience for you too. :)

My two dealings with DigitalRev:

- 100mm macro. Great transaction. Fast shipping. They said a hood was included but wasn't, so they refunded me the amount for the hood.

- Second item (won't mention it). Never told me they posted it. Didn't turn up for 3 wks. Claimed computer error, then say it must be lost. I ask for refund. No refund forthcoming, till I email ebay (paypal). Got sorted then.

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

I ordered a Tokina 124ATX via DigitalRev's ebay shop about 6 weeks ago. Their ad states "2-3 day Express - no slow airmail" which was offered by their competitor HKSupplies.

I wanted it quick and paid the extra for the 2-3 day shipment. I paid immediately via Paypal and emailed then stating that I need the lens for the Nikon mount.

One week without any action or delivery passed and I emailed them asking where my lens was. They then replied asking whether I want Canon or Nikon mount. I was getting miffed at this point because I had told them a week before and would have to wait yet longer to see anything.

DigitalRev took another 5 days to ship my parcel and let me know. In all it took 2.5 weeks to receive my "2-3 day Express parcel" which I was charged AU$79 for. After complaining several times they refunded $20 for the shipment delay.

DigitalRev only answers emails if you really hassle them. There are no order updates of any kind.

Certainly would not recommend them!

Hi Razor, that's different to my experience - I actually stuffed up my order and got quite good and timely responses to my change. I also ordered the Tokina 124ATX. The parcel also arrived quickly without any additional postage charges.

I guess they have their good days and bad days!

One point I didn't like is they assume GST and also shipping is expensive - so you must add 10% + shipping (upwards of $75) to any order. Which does not make them the cheapest dealer - HKsupplies is better.
