Postby Nnnnsic on Wed Jun 28, 2006 7:43 pm

Okay, I've had a few people ask me for the prices for kit rental at the place I work for and I've got 'em so here's some free advertising for them and some nifty info. for those who care:

The Kit:
Canon 1Ds MkII (16.7 mp full-frame) body
16-35mm 2.8
24-70mm 2.8
70-200mm 2.8
4 x 1 gb cards
4 x 2 gb cards
Flash
2 batteries
1 DC adaptor for battery
1 Firewire card reader
1 USB card reader
and...
Apple G4 17" laptop (with Capture One Pro on it)
Wacom tablet
spare lappy battery
------------------------
One Day Hire - $550
Half Day Hire - $350

Or...

The kit delivered and run by a skilled operator
------------------------
One Day Hire - $950
Half Day Hire - $550
Over and above the day, hourly rate - $50

There are other things you can get like macro lenses and polarisers and extra life batteries and such for a bit extra.

I should start my own business to hire Nikon gears as they do

With few rentals, I may have more funds to lust.

All,

Leigh has posted an item here that may be of interest to many members.

Please stay on topic. If you have nothing to say about the rental of this Canon kit, then that is precisely what you should be saying.

Nothing!

FTR, when you look at the cost of hiring just a lens from some of the more obvious outlets for photographic rental, this arrangement looks to be very good value. The kits in question are the same as Leigh brought along to a minimeet a few months ago, and include not just the camera body and a set of high quality glass, but an Apple laptop as well.

I can remember my reaction when Leigh brought home that kit, and I think the daily rate for all of this equipment borders on being almost as amazing as some of the deals Birdy provides.

That is a great price, do they have other bodies eg 30D, 5D?

Also do they rent Nikon gear? I want to try out the D2Hs and D2X.

Cheers

Vince,

Sadly, no, not to my knowledge; they're a Canon/Mac house. I suspect that Leigh is trying to convince them otherwise though. :)

But this is a very comprehensive, aimed squarely at a working pro. I could imagine a pro flying in from somewhere else, grabbing one of these kits, and setting off on a shoot somewhere in town. No worries about carrying/transporting your own gear from, say, Melbourne, LA or London: just pick a kit up on the day you need to shoot.
