Leigh, I like the plain ones best. Maybe it's my twisted sense of humour, but seeing the "users" underneath the D70 I can see the drug squad seeing us and thinking "look at that smartarse, advertising he uses D70, lets bust him". Though in some cases here Nikon could be called an addiction. (Not mentioning you Birddog)

I'd boil and inject a D70 into my blood stream if it didn't need so much boiling and wasn't 2000 a hit.

Woah, information overload! Nice work there Leigh, I'm so totally undecided, so whatever's fine with me... Just a thought, shouldn't there be a Nikon reference somewhere?

With the Nikon logo, one like Onyx’s avatar would look good on one of the sleeves me thinks :?

Leigh!

Those are excellent works from you, thanking for your time to make a big contribution to the community!!!

I also like the plain one D70-l002 , it'll show and matching well on dark colour of polo shirt and cap (Black/ yellow/ red/ dark blue/ white).
There's no bright yellow of Nikon traditional logo, but we like them coz we are not going to do the free advertising for.

Summer is approaching, we need to make up our mind on the logos and colour of the cloth. Hopefully we will have those to wear on on trip to Mudgee. We might select 2 difference designs (logo).
What do you think?

Oddly enough, I like this one too. It's simple, but very usable for pretty well all of out putposes, I believe I think it would look great on a cap, and. keeping it smallish, either on the sleeve or as a pocket panel on a polo shirt.

I also think it's ideal for stuff like the neckstraps and such.

I also like D70-logo.gif, but I think I prefer the simplicity of D70-l002.

We could swap different icons into the centre of those first two.

Not really ... but I was trying to think of something iconic for SP and that was about the best I could come up with while still keeping it somewhat innocent.

As MHD said, we don't all live in Sydney, so the bridge / opera house imagery might be a bit off putting for other states (and ironically, as I type this, I am sitting in our Sydney office looking straight out over said bridge and operahouse!. Very nice it is too)

However, something slightly less statecentric might be good - I am still waiting for another Melbourne member who actually post something!!!!!

All that said, the work done so far is excellent

cheers

How about money on the Queensland one, in recognition of what you won't have after visiting Surfers Paradise?

However, even if ya'll don't live in Sydney, point out to me some icons from places like Canberra (Besides the PM; I don't want to have to go about redrawing Johnny's head because with both the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, I've redrawn those digitally...), Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, etc.

Umm... I could make that yellow Nikon logo turn to black and white with either the Nikon in black lettering or white and the rest of the image to suit... it wouldn't take me long I'd venture.

Edit: Bugger. My 43rd post. Guess I'll have to keep posting!

But the Nikon logo would be subject to copyright. I'm happy to keep with a more generic D70 only ...

Like Nikonians, I'm going to have to stick something like there "don't sue us" bit.
Theirs goes:

Nikon®, Nikonos® and Nikkor® are registered trademarks of Nikon Corporation.

Nikonians® is a registered trademark of Nikonians.org

nikonia.com, nikonia.net, nikonian.com, nikonian.net, nikonians.com, nikonians.net,
nikonians.org, nikonians-images.com and nikonians-images.org are not associated with Nikon Corporation
nor with any of its subsidiaries or affiliates in any way.

Something like that, no doubt.
But for the t-shirt, I'm sure we can get away with it...

While I'd agree that Nikon would be daft to get pissy over the logo with it being used as free advertising for the device, it wouldn't surprise me for them to get pissed.

Seen that most people like the simple design and don't want a state specific logo, how about something like this?

Phillipb,
This is another ideas, nice work and thoughts also. It means a lot.

Please note: With the embroidery, the more details of the logo or design, it won't show up all the meaning or its characteritics, the more simple logo we created the more easily setting up and will be look nice on polo and cap.

People see the logos they knew that we are Aussie D70 User or D70 Down Under, perhaps there's a boomerang or a kangaroo attached to that.

For overseas members, we should proud that we have a friendly, creatively and a very happy forum in this Island.

That could work on a t-shirt, but when you reduce it all down to fit on a cap or neckstrap, the text portion would become unreadable, I'm afraid; there's too great a difference in the relative sizes of the components.

OTOH, there's no reason why, for instance, an outline map could not replace the opera house in small001.gif. I'll ask Leigh to do that and post it here.

That said, I think it's not an unreasonable proposition to suggest that both the Opera House and the Coathanger, whilst being Sydney icons, are also recognised internationally as being Australian icons, in the same way as the Statue of Liberty is synonymous with both NYC and the USA, and the Eiffel Tower with both Paris and France.

Finally, I still prefer the cleaner lines and inherent simplicity of d70-l002.gif.

1. Gary, I agree about d70-l002.gif it is clean and distinctive

2. I like the work from Phil, although taking note of birddog's comments, you could have the logo as presented on the t-shirt, and on the cap, have the lettering the same size as the map so that it was still readable

3. I also agree that the bridge and operahouse are recognisably Australian

4. Maybe d70-l002.gif with the addition of the word "Australia" underneath might be viable?

5. Whatever you decide, I want a cap and a t-shirt (please make large sizes) and a probably a neckstrap and I am looking forward to wearing them :)

While I like the southern cross too - nice work MHD - oddly enough, that would be as well recognised in most northern hemisphere regions as the more obvious icons.

You will have had to have lived there for a while to understand, but whereas in Oz we consider Bondi Beach to be world famous, the reality is that "world famous" means little more than "they've heard of it in England".

Us humans are a very insular lot, and while here in Oz we're perhaps better served than many in the rest of the world might be in terms of being educated in world events and the like, if you're wanting to identify yourself to the "rest of the world" (whatever that might mean) you need to do so on their terms, not your own.

Consider these two simple facts: the whole of the Australian population is exceeded by the popluation of the LA basin, and in the recent Presidential elections in Indonesia, over 150 million people cast a vote; that's three times the number of people who voted in the last US federal election.

We are but a very small link in the chain of humanity.

Wow, that is really nice work there Bruno, and the red triangle addition by Phil really set it off. :)

Although I believe it might need to shed some details (retain just the outline, for eg.) for it to scale well - big t-shirt prints to little logos on caps, etc.

My preference for caps, t-shirts, etc remains still for that second, simple one that Leigh did. It's just that it seems to me tha it will translate more easily into lots of different media with no pain.

I think the address in the logo should be the full http://www.d70users.com otherwise users.com will get alot of hits from people wondering WTF it is when they see some of us wearing the apparrel.

So, finally we have the final selection of our logos for polo and cap. Am I correct?
I have a goal to have polo and cap by mid-Nov.

Polo:
What size do you want to have:
- X-large/ Large/ Medium/ Small
- What colour? White/ black/ Green/ dark blue/ Navy/ Yellow

Cap:
- one size fits all/ colour: Black/ tan/ dark blue

How many set (Polo & cap) is for initial order?

Need to work it out/ we're running out of time!

Please come in and raise your hand.
