Everyone needs a private untidy place - for me it is my shed, and all too often my vehicle.

Geoff - a workspace fit for an ALDI catalogue :D

OK. I don't think I will put myself through that much shame. I can tell you that my work area used to be my walk in robe. An area of about 1.5 x 1.4 metres, with a door that closes. Most important, the closing door...
I have shelving and a bench. In this room I have a PC in a full tower case with a disk hanging out, via USB. Covers off of course. A large UPS - APC1000. A Lexmark T520 laser with 500 sheet tray. Another PC for work. A D-Image Elite 5400 II neg scanner. A HP 3300C flatbed scanner. A Canon i865 printer. A wall full of various CD's. A pile of hard disks, currently 4 high. A hard disk USB cradle with another disk. Ink bottles and syringes for refilling ink. Cambridge speakers & sub. External DVD drive in case. 17" CRT monitor, keyboard, mouse, KVM switch box, dead laptop, spare router, modem on the floor at my feet (it served me well but now it is scum), lots of wires all over the floor, boxes of slides to scan, piles of film negatives, piles of paperwork, er, piles and piles...., a 5 draw paper tray for printing paper, a dead motherboard and CPU needing a couple of capacitors, a great pile of LP's (nowhere else to hide them from SWMBO), a box of DVD covers, a spare 500 sheet paper tray, a box of, something, can't be bothered digging down to it for this post right now, another pile of hard disks (some dead), batteries, torch, USB card reader, Thom Hogan's D200 e-book CD that arrived in the mail recently, tape deck, dead microphone on its side, new microphone (somewhere in here, currently cannot locate), a few other boxes that belong to things in here such as XsDrivePro, Netgear router, 2 x 50CD boxes in jewel case...
Crimpers and network cable on floor,
This is crap. The more I look the more I find.
A picture tells a thousand words. No picture of this mess. I lose. Mine is more than twice as messy as anything posted so far. I just can't bring myself to post a photo of this crap.

Took me a while to work out the best way to approach this as my room is quite narrow and was thus difficult to capture the whole desk. This is looking through the door. Rest assured the theme is continued to the left of the frame as well as under the desk.

I must confess that this is after the end of semester tidy it recently received.

Its hiding behind the computer box... couldn't work out a way to get it into the shot as well.

interesting looking mic set up but I guess this isn't really the place to discuss that.

Okay, so far you are in big trouble! This desk is disgusting. I know I said you should not clean up before posting, but maybe you could have messed up a bit first? Tell me that this is a new desk about two minutes old please??

Mine was like that for about two minutes once.

Looking the other way

Postby Colcam on Mon Jul 10, 2006 7:03 pm

I decided to 'fess up & show my office looking from the desk back into the room. Actually, I can see a few spots I can still put stuff! I even have my copy stand at the back full of computer being rebuilt. This is the back view of the first post in this thread if anyone didn't figure it.
Thanks
Col :) :)

Actually I missed a photo opportunity tonight, my whole office at work (4 x 4 m) was stacked chest high with luggage - could not even see the desk!

Not even Moses desk was this clean. Actually I don't think he had a desk. How did they get by in those days without PCs and printers?

I actually cheated a tad, had I panned beside the desk there is a great pile of junk/letters/bills/books/cables/forms/associated filth but I thought a nice clear desk would scare some people!

Yes, it's a 23' Cinema HD Display connected to a Mac Mini. The display is wonderful - vibrant and bright enough to use when the sun streams in.

I've been here for 6 years or so and haven't got sick of the view, especially on New Year's Eve!

I think you meant Proverbs 14:4.
