Nikons next sensor partner?

Postby anubis on Wed Jul 26, 2006 12:11 pm

Snsor technology improving, overall very impressive from Fuji-film for a compact..... despite the overall misgivings...

You’ll never find a Fuji sensor in a Nikon, as it will sink Fuji DSLR for good. Also Nikons 4 channel output can’t handle the sensor layout of the fuji.

If you think the F30 is good, just wait until the S4 lands in September. Forget about the D70s replacement, save your cash for the Fuji S4.

Interesting.... true, unless they form some sort of partnership as opposed to just a suppler/comsumer relationship.

As for the Four-channel multi-AD output design pattern, I am sure if a agreement is reached both sets of technologies could be modified to get the same level of performance off the new sensor.

Now the S4..... what do you think that will hold?

Would be very cool if the S4 was full frame with that same noise technology. What kind of MP amount would it have with the same pixel pitch as the F30? I would approximate 30MP for DX and 45MP for 35mm. Are my maths anywhere near accurate?

The only thing that Fuji has over all other current DSLRs is its sensor. If fuji give that up, they will never sell another DSLR.

Seriously, the S2/3 bodies are rubbish, nothing more then a sensor thrown into a F80. They are slow, have a 3 shot RAW buffer, Dttl flash, use AA batteries and so on.... But i sold my D2x to buy a second S3 because the 14bit RAW file is to die for.

As for the S4, my guess is it will be a 8x8 (16 mega pixel) sensor, with the latest fuji SR sensor, using either a D200 or F6 body. I expect it to range from ISO50-3200, 8 shot RAW buffer, use AA batteries :( and maintain those amazing fuji colours. I think it will cost around $3500aud.

fingers crossed anyway...

I'd do a nudie run at the next meet if the Fuji S4 was a FF. ;)

The only untapped market in the F-mount world is FF digital. I know a few pro photographers that sold up and jumped to Canon because there is no current F-mount FF DSLR.

Aww Piro, I'd have thought you'd want a lens without VR for women.
