So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Finally manage to have a peek at a few of the pics taken during the workshoppe last weekend...

This is one taken toward the end of the day.

Yet to knock it about in PS to get a photograph out of the pic...

Yep... wasted best part of the day looking for a brickwall backdrop, but in the end had to settle for this instead... :oops:

I really like the colour of the water in the picture, In most photos it's usually a drab dull colour.

I love the look of a twightlight sky, specially longer exposures.

And you've got the perfect angle, the uprights are actually behind one another in the middle of the bridge, not sure if that was intentional or not but it really gives the bridge some symmetry.

And :oops: I've just realised the white circle is not the moon as previously thought but that damned disco ball, and here I was thinking you were all lucky enough to be there on a full moon at the right time, how embarrassing.

I see, i like.

I was wondering how the bridge would look all lit up like that.

There is a funny light straight line on the left of the bridge that might do with a bit of the famous Clone Tool action to get rid of it. Also the very bright spotlight on the Opera House that is facing you is a bit distracting.

Also, is that a canoe in the forground? Every man should own a canoe, or drink beer or both :)

Does anyone feel that the white disco ball dead center is distracting and weakens the overall shot?

No - the reflection it created enhances the pic IMO

I agree Steve.. the 'funny striaght line' is actually the signs over the carriageway lanes... thinking I might clone it out. The Opera house lighting is a little bright but that is the price to be paid for a long exposure.
I have other shots where the Opera house is better exposed, but at the expense of other parts of the scene.
Yes... every man should own a canoe... and I own two in fact !!!
The canoe you refer to here though is not a canoe but a speed boat that was moving around quite a bit so is rather blurred... I've also been playing around with removing it... but not been happy with my attempts so far.
The other item I'd like to improve is the rather bright red light in the centre of the bridge... at least to reduce its brightness... the D70 tends to over do red lights etc.

Matt... I can't really decide on the disco ball... I'm not a fan... but in the context of the bridge for January 2005 it is an integral part of the structure and an accurate record of it's state at the time... so in that way I kinda like it.

Sheesh... I'm I suppose to be criticing my own pic???????

Have you croped out the pylons or did you not want them fully in the shot ?

Great shot none the less, the disco ball looks great.

Brad , the width of the shot was purely a function of the lens used (which was a 28/f1.4 nikon. Given my location, that was as much as would fit, and at the time I was more concerned with testing out the lens low-light capabilities than composition and framing... however, once I reviewed the result on computer I felt it worthy of more than the shredder.
Next visit I'll certainly take more notice of what I have in frame to see if I can improve upon this shot.
