This week's display image comes from the one of the Outback Adventurers, Big Red (Shane) for his evocative Big Red X 4.
I first noticed the image posted in Shane's blog of the trip. Like a good little DSLRUsers member, he didn't post all of his wonderful pix, he linked to them instead. Member Slider must have been thinking as I did, because he encouraged Shane to post the image in the forum, which he did in this thread.
As noted in the thread, I think the image is distinctly Australian in content. I love the colours, and there has been quite a bit of photographic effort in the long exposure which captures the fire and the stars too. I think it is a wonderful photograph.
Congratulations Shane!

A great choice. A romantic atmosphere that inspires the viewer to pack up and do the same thing.

Woo Hoo
For me this was only an image taken for fun and i really didn't expect so many people to like the result so i feel rather honoured and more than a little surprised to be placed in with all the other POTW winners.
esteemed company indeed !!
Thanks Trevor

Shane - top image. I will admit when I saw the thumbnail, I was like 'and...'...but seeing it bigger is awesome. Very well executed and compositionally very appealing. This is out of the ordinary and that's what makes it!! Nicely done - congrats on POTW. Great choice Trev!!

Congrats, great photo. Sitting down under the stars, billy boiling (Madura tea of course), swapping yarns, quoting Banjo Patterson, singing a few ditties, staring into the flames, listening to the sounds of the bush...what could be better?

Shane, looking at your beatiful picture I believe it should have been title "Gosts of the Outback" for those transparent figures give it a kind of gothic effect. Don't you think?
