looks interesting, but it will have to be cheap, not much stopping us from getting a cheap gps and doing the same thing really!
hmm if you are somewhere you need a gps perhaps you want one with a screen so you can find your way out again!

Interesting idea, makes what you can do now with a couple bits of hardware a lot simpler I guess.
What would be better is to just include a GPS chip in cameras with a simple flat receiver sitting on top of the body! Then embed lat/long in the EXIF and you would have exact time stamping too. I'd happily pay $100-$200 extra for this feature. Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
I'm with you on that one and I can see the day when it will happen.. Life is

I don't think i would trust a Sony GPS RXER.
I'm not sure where or why you would use a device like this. Surely a handheld GPS would be just as easy. My Garmin Legend GPS does this anyway and it has a screen and maps. Steve.

Dion, With a couple of the higher end Nikons having GPS capabilities, there's actually some interesting threads on DPR where people are building their own recievers and linking them to their cameras to provide exactly this functionality but without buying the Nikon GPS add-on. g.

According to what I read, this is not to be attached to a camera.
From what I understood, this is a little device which you buy it, turn it hon, hang around your backpack or waist belt and it will record the time and lat/lon of that second/minute. After you get home, just plug the little device back to your computer and it will have a software whihc syncs with the photo of your choice and search through the entire folder/files to match up the date, time and plug in the GPS data into the image (if it will), then the software will organise the fotos for you in a 'GPS map' with the little pins inserterd. My best guess is that the device will read EXIF file and not to be such Sony-only compatible (hopefully).
