I Dive on the south coast but I am a little to scared to take my D70 underwater....

I just got my underwater housing very recently and didn't try it yet. And most probably, I'll not be able to do that 'till the end of January. BTW, I'm not diving, I'm snorkeling. Could anyone suggest good snorkeling place/spot around Sydney?

how far afield do you wish to go??

Shelly beach at Manly would be nice I imagine (only ever dived it but it is only ~10m deep)

Fairlight is beter than Shelley for just snorkelling. Excellnt fish life, coldwater corals (Porites, Gorgonians etc.) all in easy depth.

My issue is whether its worth forking out the 2k for an Ikelite or other housing or get a dedicated underwater camera/housing.

Currently use a Canon PS40, which is slow and pretty old now, and am not happy with the results anymore. The S40 is what got me into photography so its been a good camera, but having a D70 im spoilt now.

Not having the ability to see on the LCD what you are shooting could be an issue, especially on coral reefs..

My ears are not allowing me to get deeper than 10m. Actually, I doubt if I could do even 10 now.

Did you mean Fairlight Beach? What part of it would you suggest to try? Close to rock pool or the opposite side?

Yeah the rockpool point is where I normally freedive. Lemme know when u going down, would love to check the housing out. Which one did you get?
