Challenge 10 - interesting fact or eerie coincidence?

Postby Glen on Mon Aug 07, 2006 10:55 am

Just checked on the top six place getters in Challenge 10 and all images were shot with a D70 or D70s.

Does that prove:

A) No one else bothers to enter?

B) Canon, D200 and D2X aren't as good for comp work?

C) These guys think "We're megapixel challenged, we try harder"

D) Voters took sympathy on them beacause they were megapixel challenged?

Interesting Glen, I think partially we still haven't reached a equilbrium of different camera users, so prodominantly we are still D70/s heavy, that said I think maybe the D2x and D200 users are tired from carrying their heavy kit around so don't have the energy to enter :)

How about option E:

E) The majority of users who enter comps have D70's, but since a lot of them are switching over to D200's, the next time a comp comes around, the winners will be a mix of the cameras.

Leon, just thinking back to the thread on megapixel handicapping  There were quite a few entries from other cameras.

You are still probably right.

If meagapixel handicapping came in force ( :) ) then us D2H users will win every time. :)

So I'd be screwed every time with megapixel handicapping if I use the 1DsMk2's and the Phase One backs, eh?

That is an interesting point, I shot my entry with my D70 but if I had had my D200 at the time I would definitely have used that instead - but would that have hindered me when it came to voting?

Interesting (he says, rubbing his chin!)..

If the next comp come's down to megapixels I think I'll shoot it at work with the P25! But technically the Mamiya isn't a DSLR?!

I guess I should break out the old CP950.

Liam, congrats on your efforts. It was a big week last week for you, first the D200, now a new D70.

IF you combine them all, I guess we can look forward to seeing your images shot with your D340! :)

It was a great week Gary, cheers!

The D70s couldn't come at a better time, my D70 is on it's last legs and will be going in for repairs as soon as it's big brother arrives!

id say this is the option i would vote for, i only noticed 1 20D camera from about 20 photos i had checked, the board seems to be more so Nikon focused (me being a Canon user), thats what i have noticed anyway, not that there is anything wrong with that.
