I tried to post the error msg but it wouldn't go through.

Was something about word matching and debug mode.

There is (still) a problem in the database.

I've asked the hosts to look at it, but as yet haven't got a satisfactory response.

In the interim, I implemented a very quick and dirty and ugly and nasty workaround in the code to bypass the problem.

The hosting service simply looked at the fact that the pages appear to be working and said "great, no problems" and completely ignored the fact that I'd told them that one of the database tables was inaccessible to us.

So ... the site appears to be fine, but it's not quite, and I'm still waiting to hear about a proper fix so that I can put back the old version of the codebase.

I was having problems posting so I was trying a few different things. Some messages were posted by some people. I didn't think mine were. Or at least they weren't at the time.

Sorry if there are multiple posts around, I was trying to work out what was going on. I posted another similar message but with the exact error message. I had to post this one first so I could cut and paste the error message.

The database looks as if it's correct now, so I'm using this message as a test. It will either work.

Or not.

:)

And it posted fine. :)

Editing it now, to see if that too remains fixed.

Nick,

The search by username works differently, I think.

And I know that some names, formatted in a particular way, refuse to be found by the search function.

I too was experiencing problems in posting, as described, during my previous, increasingly infrequently, browsing session on Sunday.

Looks like Gary's onto it and fixed it already. Onya Gary!
