Nigel,

I'm happy to avoid any issues at all regarding other events; that's why I initially offered two dates, and March 20 was/would be my second preference.

How does that date ride with the powers that be at the Trust?

How does that date ride with everyone here?

I'm trying to avoid February because we already have a few mini meets organised.

I am pretty much free any date in the next couple of months.

I think it would be a good idea to aviod any weekend where the caves may be slightly busy.

FWIW, I'll investigate the possibilty of luxury air-conditioned coach travel through my contacts.

Let it be said that "vintage bus" does not necessarily mean "clapped-out" and unable to climb mountain passes, or at least, what is on offer in the Great Dividing Range

Let you know within the next week.

Regards to all

I'm keen to stay overnight on the Saturday since that gives us an early start on the Sunday. We could have a D70 dinner perhaps on the Sat night.

2 family members will come along, but don't need to be included in the caves photography trip...

20th March sounds good to me. Will probably be 2 adult and 2 small children- is that OK or does everybody think it may be too unfriendly for little ones [2 and 3 yo]?

stubbsy,
I'm prefer that way, for a long run, it'll take around 3 hrs from Sydney and depend on weather. If we can overnight at Jenolan Cave then Sunday we can relax and start and leaving earlier by the end of the day.
Especially for some distance member like yourself, you require 5 hours to get back to Newcastle ready for Monday.

Anyone know what's around that area in the way of cheap accomodation? Maybe even camping?

I don't see any problem with small children, provided that you let them pose for us to take photos  They're so cute!

I've just updated the list of the trip , please check, if there's any omision, pls. let me know.

For member who wish to overnight, do you want me contact Nigel and ask him about accomodation or DIY?
If we can gather at Blackheath, Blue Mountain in the afternoon,we may doing a workshop about sunset before dinner. I wish we can come to one place and sharing the experiences.
Your thoughts.

If there is still room my dad would like to come along...

He hasn't joined the forum yet (will be on Friday night) so if we book out he said that the current members take priority and he will miss out.

Birdy can you please confirm if this is ok so far.

Cheers,

5 star hotels - look no further than the Hydro-Majestic at Medlow Bath. The views from there are breathtaking! Ideal for your sunset workshop - just pop in for a cuppa if you can't afford to stay (and try to be discreet with a group of 30).

B&B's litter the side of the roads in most Blue Mtn small towns, that's another alternative for those considering the overnighter.

Hi all,

There is a magic camping ground at Jenolan Caves. We can get you in there for nothing if anyones interested.

Toilet block, running water, hot showers and small wood bar-b-ques.

It's located next to the Jenolan River and is usually quiet as it is relatively unknown.

Caves House is relatively expensive and they do get quite a number of complaints. Unfortunately, can't assist with the pricing as it is a private concern.

Besides the Jenolan camping ground, Blackheath is a good place to stay, I have stayed at Blackheath and found it enjoyable, but that was 20 years ago.

We also have cabins at Jenolan, (run by the Trust) but unforunately all booked out. We also have a cottage in the valley that sleeps 8, 2 doubles and bunks, but someone has a hold on that for the 20th. Also usual policy is a minimum 2 night booking, although in our case may be able to get around that Price per night $176 less 10%. I can keep an eye on that if you like and let you know if it becomes available.

As we get closer to the date I will post something for you to print out and bring with you to obtain free parking. Normally $5.00, but as mongrels we will charge without it.

Regards
Nige

I'm up for that. Happy to have group accommodation booked since I'm a lazy %$#%#$, but if not I'm sure I'm capable of doing it myself.

Ok... at this point looks like myself and Katherine coming... will probably drive up ourselves and probably stay over with some relatives.
Happy to gather around bleakheath for a sunset thing if thats what we agree and plan to meet at the caves early (maybe not bright though).
Have to chat with the wife a little bit more to finalise details.
