Flash sync has dropped to 1/200 :S Also I'm not keen on SD cards - it'd be nice if they had the dual card formats like the canons.
Wondering if it'll have the same banding issues as the D200. Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone
Come follow the rabbit hole...
Thanx Glen

www.colberne.com.au I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
Trent, Not really! SRP for the D80 is US$1299.00 and D200 is US$1699.00. Birddog114

Oh yeah, that too. I just compared the 'dpreview preview' MRSPs for the D200 and D80, but in reality the D200 is going for far less than that. Thanks for the correction!
(still at work, I swear I will get some spare time to pick up that DK-21M sometime this month )
Birdy, DPReview is reporting the KIT price as 1299 USD, and 999USD for the body. That's not too bad Actually, I was initially sceptical, but having had a look at the specs posted on DPReview, I am now getting quite interested! Benefits over the D70s: - Larger image size, of course - Newer AF, with more AF points - Looks like it can meter with AI lenses - ISO 100-3200 (with boost) - More Auto-ISO options (you can set max ISO or min SS, which is brilliant) - Bigger memory buffer - Bigger, brighter VF - RGB histogram - Has option for vertical grip - Has extra function button - AF mode has been moved to a dedicated button (godsend!!) - more RAW+JPEG options - Bigger LCD - More extensive in-camera processing (just how much this would be used though..) The only real disadvantages for me would be: - Uses SD cards - fastest shutter speed of 1/4000, not 1/8000 - fastest flash sync of 1/200, not 1/500 I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for full reviews etc. Would be a nice "incremental upgrade" from the D70s
Actually, no, sod it. I'm going to save up for the D200
I notice the D80 will have a 0.94X magnification pentaprism viewfinder compared to the D70's 0.75X pentamirror (?).
This is one thing I see as a great improvement.
For me the D200 has more than enough advantages to make me glad I got one.
Especially the 5 frames per second and the RAW buffer size. Termy,

As a surfing photographer, you've hit the nail on the proverbial. I'm waiting for the D300 at 8 fps raw and 12 fps jpeg and then I will upgrade... President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

I agree, this is the first thing I looked for. Manual focus through the D70's squintfinder is just getting harder and harder! --Chuan, who has a magnifying eyepiece on the way...
Teds already listing on their site for $1600 body only. Available late september

I am pleasantly suprised actually some nice things there:
+Better AF with more points +10+MP +Viewfinder looks nice +Vertical grip +Bigger buffer +Iso 100 -SD (for me) -Smaller (I actually like bigger cams for erganomics) -slower sync and max shutter It kills the d70/s but is still a bit off the d200... a well placed entry from Nikon New page

It is interesting that Nikon seems to be narrowing the gap between models to some degree - the d200 has quite a few d2x features, the d80 has quite a few d200 features. It is all progress I guess.
But geez, I love my d200. Greg - - - - D200 etc

That's the only thing I hate about the D70!!!! Dammit! Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone

Glen, it's not around the corner from my place, I looked and there it wasn't! I also looked for a spare Nikkor 600mm sports lens and it wasn't there also. Somebody has them... President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Ha! That's easily fixed by carrying a grey card and setting a custom wb (or shoot raw, and do it in post) but nothing can fix the viewfinder, which is the only thing that annoys me about the D70 Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Vanbar are anticipating a price of $1650 when released - presumably for the body only!
I think I'll stick with the D200 P
Not really...if I need to set it on the fly to create different colour casts then the grey card method isn't an option. Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone

WB is easily fixed in pp, e.g. NC. Alex
