Nikkor AF 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF

Postby ATJ on Mon Aug 14, 2006 2:15 pm

Does anyone have any comments on the Nikkor AF 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF?

The reason I'm interested in this lens is for underwater photography with my D70. This is a good range of zoom for UW and the lens has a closest focusing distance of 210mm which means I can use it in the dome port without a +4 diopter close-up lens. The close-up lens is required with the 35-70mm kit lens.

If the lens is better as a paperweight, can anyone suggest a suitable alternative within the same zoom range?

Thanks,

ATJ.

Here is a thread here on it (I searched for "24-85", there are a few others): http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php? ... light=2485

Also read Bjorn Rorslett review http://www.naturfotograf.com/index2.html

I have never used the lens so don't know anything about it.

The topic or post you requested does not exist

I did do a search on 24-85 and only got hits for the AFS 24-85 mm f/3.5-4.5 G IF-ED which I'm not interested in.

Odd... it didn't come up in the search before, but now it does. :?:

Oh well. Doesn't really answer my question.
