Dyslexic Canon users: untie!

Postby gstark on Wed Aug 16, 2006 9:45 pm

Seriously, Poon has aske me for a list of items to add to our bargain products.

While I could build this from my own imagination, I'd rather take advice from those more knowledgeable than I, so please feel free add to this thread the list of products that you think people should be buying at our prices.

Not a Canon item but...
Can you get Gepe CardSafe Extreme flash-card carriers?

As for Canon items, it all depends on what people are looking for. I might be interested in an EF 24-105mm/4 L IS USM in the next few months if there was a good price.

EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM seems to be popular, along with the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS, EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM and EF 70-200 f/4L USM.

No more stupid than the 20D, seeing as they don't make that any more either.

I'm watching prices on the 5D, and whatever succeeds that. Closely - if it's below $3k around solstice I'll probably buy one.

This 30/1.4... never seen one from Canon, very interested. Or the 24/1.4.

I'm curious about the 400/4 DO, but only slightly - it'll be a while before I lay out that sort of money for a lens. I'm more curious about the 200-400/4 DO that was rumored in 2001, but that's never been seen in the wild :)

My buy list is as follows;

Jan / Feb '07:
EOS 30D (or XXD)
EF 70-200 f2.8L IS USM
EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS USM
-or-
EF 400 f5.6L USM
BG-E2
BP-511a
1.4x Extender II

My wish list as follows;

Later:
EOS 1D MarkII N or equiv
EF 500 f4L IS USM
EF 16-35 f2.8L IS USM
EF 24-70 f2.8L US USM
2.0x Extender II

Really need to decide if I want the EF-S 17-55 as a walk about or get the extra reach of the 400mm prime for motorsport and steal my business partners 17-35 f2.8L for wide stuff :)

I would also be interested in a backup 20D body as my underwater housing is very model specific, and if my current 20D ever bites the dust....

As well, I am interested in a battery grip too.

It will be a while before I am in the 'in' crowd, but what the heck...

I'm not sure what is on there either but ...

I am looking at the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8. Maybe the Sigma 70-200m 2.8 as well if I can convince the boss.
