Upcoming Comp!

Postby Geoff on Mon Aug 28, 2006 11:55 am

After the amazing effort and results from the previous comp of 'egg' I can't wait until the new theme is announced which I think will be today!! There is going to be much excitement and I believe will encourage an incredible amount of skill and talent!! Watch this space or near!! :)

I reckon it's going to be....... "Two Eggs".

Get ready for plenty of "That's a nice pair" jokes.

Will it be the same as in past comps, ie Liam gets to choose the theme? Having been in that position myself, I know it's an unenviable task, now made even more so after such an amazingly successful Challenge.

Simon, the theme wont be chosen by Liam. We have gone past that model for a comp as while it is a good model and fitting reward for the winner, we found multiple minds critically tearing apart any theme gets a better result. Often one person sees a theme only a few ways, when others may see a more obtuse variation not originally intended. Multiple minds should explore all variables and potential pitfalls with any theme (and we have seen a few pitfalls). The egg theme was the result of exactly that sort of robust discussion.. Many mods/admins have seen a few different interpretations of a theme in the past, the intention is to remove interpretation of theme and compliance with the theme as variables, leaving all entrants on an even footing with just the quality of their imagery being compared.

Danny as long as you're not frothing at the mouth thinking about eggs I'm sure everything will be fine :)

Sheesh..if one could smell innuendo we'd all need gas masks at this point!!

I'm quite frankly glad I don't have to choose the next theme - one of the first things I thought when I found out I won was "oh crap, now I have to come up with a theme!!!!"

Sweet relief! :)

So, is the theme going to be epileptic fits caused by to many camera flashes? This could cause frothing.

I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
