WTB: 80-200 f2.8

Postby ABG on Wed Aug 30, 2006 1:15 pm

Wasn't too sure whether to place this here or the for sale section, but I'm looking to buy an 80-200. If anyone has one lying around gathering dust, I'd really like to talk to you. I'd also be keen to hear if anyone has an 85 1.8 they're thinking of selling.

Thanks
Andrew

Best of luck Andrew. They are 2 bloody good bits of glass. I know no-one's going to get their hands on my 80-200 (until I can save the dollars for the 70-200). Maybe my 85/1.8 will be going on the market if my 28-70/2.8 works out as well as it appears to be going. I'm doing a wedding in a few weeks time and I'm thinking of NOT taking the 85/1.8 along, just the 28-70 and 80-200. If I decide to part with the 85/1.8, I'll PM you.
Cheers
John

Thanks John and I realise it's a bit of a long shot. You never know unless you ask though :) Keep me posted regarding your 85 1.8. I borrowed Loz's for a few weeks a while ago and fell in love with it. Great peice of glass.

I now have my 28-70 and was looking to offload my 85 1.8 when I get the 1.4, I also have a 80-200. Its great, and I took lots of shots with it last weekend, http://www.pbase.com/oz_beachside/2006_porsche_carrera_cabriolet

I would consider if I was to make the change to a 70-200 VR, but mine is only a few months old, so I it would be a regretful sale.

What price point are you looking at?

Well, I have one I'm willing to let go!!!

I purchased the 70-200VR about 5 months ago and decided to sell the 80-200 but couldn’t find a buyer. In the end I couldn’t be bothered putting it on EBay or anything so it has sat in my camera bag unused all this time.

The lens version is - AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED (AF Push Pull D) so it’s not the newest model getting around but its still one hell of a good lens!!!

Here are some pics from the last time it was used (I think it was April)

Is it a thread hijack if I mention that I'm interested in your lens?
Any chance of a drive by to check it out?

Whiz,

No problems with a thread hijack, but I think that we should perhaps wait and see if Andrew and Kelly are able to come to some agreement first, especially seeing that this was Andrew's question in the first instance. :)

Hi Andrew, I looked at one of these push pull 80-200s before I bought my 2 ring version. I nearly went for the push pull version. If anything it was a tad sharper than the 2 ring version I finally got. It was being sold by a guy in Hobart and was physically in poor shape, dings all over it, crossed filter thread etc so I didn't go for it. But it was sharp as despite the rough treatment. I'm sure Kellogs doesn't bash her equipment around as much as the one that I saw and the fact that the lens I saw still functioned perfectly despite looking like it had gone thru a galactic war says a lot for the quality of the build. The 80-200 is a top piece of glass. Good luck with it.
Cheers
John

Unfortunately, I have to pull out of this for personal reasons.

Whiz, if you're still interested, give Kelly a holler.

Can you make an offer?

Something realistic to its value.

I don’t know………. What do people think it’s worth??? I’d be interested to hear your opinions

I've recently bought one of these in very good nick, came with both caps, hard-case, lens hood and a circ. polarizer for $650. This seems to be an average sort of price.
