Hollows Challenge - Get your EsOI in now.Christmas Is Coming
And it's time to book for our Christmas function. This year, we're eating at the In Restaurant, 99 Military road, Neutral Bay (diagonally opposite the Oaks Hotel). The date is Saturday November 25, and we have the whole restaurant booked out! Cost will be $39.50 each, and the selected menu is shown in our booking form. Given the date, we might also throw in a bit of Thanksgiving too. ALL THINGS ORDINARY, LOOK EXTRAORDINARY Thank you to all who have already lodged their details for this. And for those who have already submitted their image, even more thanx. You all deserve a great big pat on the back for your generosity in this. Expressions of Interest for this have now been closed. Thank you to everyone who has submitted one; let's all go and shoot something. Images need to be uploaded to our gallery site no later than September 20 2006. A couple of important points that need to observed now: One of our members, Padey, has offered to handle all of the printing for us for this event. That is, he's going to arrange to have the printing done, and to pick up the cost of this. That is a most generous offer, Andrew, and on behalf of our community, I thank you for this. Oz_Beachside was responsible for bringing this exhibition to our attention, and he (1) made contact with the organisers in order to help organise our participation, (2) handled the business end of that and forwarded all of your details to the organisers, (3) is liaising with Andrew to get the printed images from Sydney to Melbourne, (4) will be handling the the preparation of your images for display, including the mounting of them within the common, specified mount size, and (5) will be arranging for their delivery to the exhibition. So to both Padey and Oz_Beachside, and on behalf of everyone here, a very big thank you for their efforts in helping us to help those who are less fortunate than we might be. Bargains The more observant of you will have noted that I've added a whole swag of Sigma(!) stuff to the list. Yes, you heard right. And memory cards - CF and SD - have been added as well. For those waiting on Canon prices, the problem, is that stock is unavailable, and thus Poon doesn't want me to push this stuff if he cannot get it for you. Sorry 'bout that. Late breaking news: The Canon 400D is now available, and we have pricing and ordering for it. Just a short note on delivery times ... People who paid for their gear on Monday of this week, already have their hardware in their hands, and are enjoying their new toys, according to the information I have at my disposal. Three days, man. Three days! Last edited by gstark on Wed Sep 13, 2006 1:18 am, edited 8 times in total.

I have a question, I'm still trying to find a suitable idea, or a shot I've taken previously that suits.
Would I still need a model release for an recognisable faces, if I wasn't profitting from it but the money was going towards a charity? Anyone know where I stand legally in this regard ? Thanks, Craig
Unfortunately Craig, even if it's for charity I would think you still need a model release.

Not sure if you would actually.
If an image was taken in public domain, you probably wouldn't. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Actually that does depend... where a model release is essential is where you are using the image to endorse a service or product... or where you could be seen to be defaming or depriving the model of income... If there is artistic merit to the image then you may get away with it... of course some on could alway *try* to sue you... But for example Time and National Geographic and travel mags etc etc... would not get releases for many of thier shots as they can claim Editorial content... So you could claim your image was capturing the escence of a situation and that person was part of it.. A great example is Poon's entry... no way could he get done for that photo which is highly editorial... New page

I was just thinking, that my Sea-captain type picture might be worthy of consideration except I didn't get the guy to sign a model release. He did consent to the photo and it was taken in a public place, I just didn't want to overstep the mark. That said I'm not even sure if my Sea Captain picture mets the theme.
This was the example I've been looking for... reference Philip Lorca Dicorcia...

Are the teleconverters lenses or accessories?
I also notice there is a 2Gb CF card in the list now as well, good news! D3 | 18-200VR | 50:1.4 | 28:2.8 | 35-70 2.8 | 12-24 f4

I have them as accessories, I think. It's a tough call, but someone's got to make it. I could make them teleconverters, in their own section. And I could separate the Sigma lenses from the Nikkors, if that would make things a bit easier for y'all to peruse. Please let me know. It's a fairly minor couple of things that I would need to change.
That's actually a SD card. It'll fit a D50 or D80, but not a D70, D200, or D2X. I'm waiting on those items' prices as well as those for Canon. g.

ah, no sorry I mean the nikon TC are in with the lenses while the Kenko and Sigma are in with the accessories - I owuld view them as accessories, myself, even though they are lenses...

So, they're schizoid? Seems to me as though that's right - The Nikkors are lenses, and the rest ... Let me mull on that for an hour or 7. Everyone else? And I've just added CF and SD prices. 2 brands, 2 sets of prices. g.
