If you have a surplus of 5K AussieWhat would you buy? (3 lenses and 2 photography related items)

I would in all honesty buy myself a few days with Reznick. His writeup sold me. I'm drooling at the idea of 3 days in Yosemite with him. That kind of knowledge is difficult to put a price on, and you don't have to worry about it getting wet.
Lenses I would get the 80-400, 12-24, 24 mm fixed, some kind of umbrella reflector, a new computer, new monitor...all through Birdie of course.
dooda, I want to come with him in June once I back to So Cal, but don't know yet! 3 days with Ron will be a big relief for me. Birddog114

Now there's an idea
How about we all "time share" Birddog's collection, he has enough to keep all of us satisfied all year round. Do the sums birddog, how much do we have to pay to be in this time share? Of course you reserve the right to have all of your equipment on Xmas and public holidays. __________
Phillip **Nikon D7000**
mmm... interesting topic...
Would have to say the 70-200vr... and probably the 28/1.4.... with a bit of luck I'd have enough left over for a teleconvertor... maybe the x1.7 ??? Now... where DID I leave that 5k hanging around??? Michael.
excuse me while I roll my tongue back into my mouth.... and clean up the slobber.. but all this talk is a very dangerous thing ... for my wallet... Birddog did u initiate this thread?? See u at the next minimeet
Coolhand was here
Buddhists don't celebrate Xmas, so I'm sure Birddog wont mind ME having the 200-400 next Xmas day
You barely got past the first item!!
Nice list though... You dont hear much about the 200/2VR but I imagine it would be a damn hand lens.... New page

Then we can organize a mini meet or VR Club function Birddog114
VNAF, My Beloved Country and Airspace
D70 Body
70-200VR 12-24 50 F1.4 2 or 3 SB-800's $500 in filters of all types Half a dozen 2GB CF cards (I'd get to depressed if a 4GB or 8GB one died on me) TC 1.7 Couple of cheap holidays to take photos with all that expensive gear.
Return flight (economy class) from Adelaide to Burbank, CA with a three (3) day field trip with Ron Reznick. If if 5K is not quite enough, contribute the balance myself.
Goodbye for now, fozzie
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
I'll probably be tarred and feathered for it, but I'd buy a Canon.

Totally agree - Nikon, did at one time, make a movie camera but it died a death. Chris Chris

I shall endeavour to bring some tarr tomorrow, sure to be able to find some feathers in the park with a little luck.
my list is a little different.
Nikon F6 - $3500 F6 battery back MB-40 - $500 SB800 - $500 50mm 1:1.4 lens - $500 or an HassleBlad Xpan 2 with 45mm lens - $5000 $5k doesnt go very far! can we play the same game with $20k?? JD
If we did that, we'd have to push it to 50k when someone asks about a Blad with a Phase back on it.

I'd have to go for
24-120VR 1.7TC Micro Nikkor of some sort Gitzo legs RRS head Think that's even a bit under budget. Maybe another body or TC and a few filters? Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
